| rumproasts (34), Grand Rapids, Michigan | | May 3, 2012 extremely friendly staff and nice selection. most items are available as singles. i haven’t been able to figure out the pricing though. nothing appears to be marked, but luckilly, my total always seems to be fairly reasonable. | | nbutler11 (226), Phoenix, Arizona | | March 28, 2012 Great selection from the region. I always stop here when I’m in the area, and their prices are usually very reasonable. | | Travlr (637), Washington, Washington DC | | January 15, 2012 Large place with a massive beer selection. Whereas many liquor stores also do beer, this one looks like it does beer first and foremost, and also does liquor. It’s obvous that this collection has taken the staff quite a while to put together. Everything is available as singles, of course, and the staff is helpful and knowledgeable. A must stop while in the region. | | cratez (100), London, Ontario | | December 27, 2011 Visited on a quiet Sunday afternoon in October 2011.
Atmosphere: attractive layout, wine and spirits at the front, beer in the back. We were the only ones in the store so I had plenty of room to move around and browse.
Service: at first the clerk seemed a bit indifferent; however, after we chatted for a while he dug out some fresh Centennial IPA for me and recommended a couple Michigan lagers for my girlfriend’s dad (it was his birthday).
Selection: comparable to Siciliano’s and larger than most stores that I’ve come across in the Great Lakes region. I grabbed bottles of Bell’s Pale Ale, Oarsman, Lager Beer, and Octoberfest, Flying Dog Gonzo Imperial Porter, Founders Curmudgeon and Pale Ale, Shiner Bock, North Coast Brother Thelonious, and Ommegang Three Philosophers, among many other beers. A half-case of singles and two 6-packs came to $48, which is reasonable in my books.
Overall: a great alternative to the competition with very fair prices. Picked up a few gems that I couldn’t find elsewhere and left for Graydon’s a happy camper. Check this place out. | | satan165 (101), River Grove, Illinois | | April 26, 2011 solid store, clean and well lit, well organized. help was available for both bourbon and cigars (not for me but i overheard). impressive global selection and nice focus on many obscure midwest beers with concentration on MI brews. very nice place. | | Tmoney99 (331), Cincinnati, Ohio | | September 14, 2010 Easy to find location off 28th street in strip shops with a nice parking lot. The staff was freindly and had good knowledge of beers. Good beer selection with coolers on sides and six packs and singles in the middle. Found new beers. Been coming to area for 10 years, good new find and I will come back | bradloeks (1), Illinois does not count - explanation | | June 15, 2010 Stopped here on my way through Grand Rapids on a recommendation. This is an impressive store, as you walk in there is a beautiful wall of Belgium and import cork finished bottles on your right. The back half of the store is all beer. For the most part this is a very organized and well laid out store. Their selection of Michigan beers is amazing not to mention the prices are very fair as compared to other retailers that I visited. Every beer is available in singles; you can take a single beer right out of any six packs to build your own. The service was excellent; I was greeted as I walked in and talked about IPAs with the clerk who was very helpful in picking out some wonderful Michigan brews. Shook my hand on the way out and had me join their email list.
One of the most notable stops during my trip...wish they had one of these in Oak Park! | | sm0key (10), Michigan | | April 14, 2010 One of my favorites. Rashi is very friendly, and knows his stuff! Great selection of both beer and wines. Can’t complain about prices, either. Always have a nice conversation when there, too... | lacey1975 (1), does not count - explanation | | March 8, 2010 I learned about this place from people at the winter fest beer tasting. Everyone serving the beer at the event spoke very highly of International Beverage. I have lived in Grand Rapids for a long time but had never stopped in. My parents buy a lot of wine from this place so I guess I always figured it to be a wine shop. Wow! Was I wrong!! The beer selection was absolutely fantastic and well organized. I usually do all my beer shopping at Siciliano’s. Overall Siciliano’s probably has just a touch more beer, but I felt this place had better beer. The Belgian beer selection was maybe the best I have ever seen. I’m picky about dates and the beer seemed much fresher than most stores in the area. The staff was very helpful, Adam helped me with the beer and I even picked up a bottle of wine for my parents thanks to Rashi!
Bottom line I couldn’t believe that I had not visited this place earlier…I would give the beer part of the store a solid A and overall store an A+. It is a one stop shop for those with that enjoy good beer and good wine!
| | amg800 (38), Ada, Michigan | | June 8, 2009 It’s a great place. Been going there for years. The owners know alot about their products and are very willing and able to help you find anything you need. |
