Ambience: Typical Irish pub, with uncomfortable wooden furniture, some stuff on the walls, and a nice patio. Service: Solid, unprepossessing and friendly without being annoying. Selection: Average, in this age of large draft and bottle lists. However, this is the only place in the DC area I’ve found that has Weihenstephaner Hefeweizen ON TAP, which is even more delicious than in a bottle. Just be sure to order it without fruit, and for Pete’s sake, order the 22oz for just $7. They also have Delirium Tremens and a number of other US/UK craft beers on tap in addition to the venerable Guinness. They also have ’Firkin Fridays’, where they tap a microbrewery sixtel (40 pints). Food: Typical Irish pub fare, with some surprising additions (tacos?). The Guinness beef pie entree is incredible, as are the banger rolls appetizer. The bread pudding is criminally average for an Irish pub. Value: Two guys, five beers, a split app, two entrees and two desserts, and the check split right at $40. That’s a great value for this area. Overall: A great place to go if you’re in the neighborhood, if for no other reason than the on-tap Weihenstephaner.
