Location has moved and the name has changed, updated above. Ambiance was great, low lighting and wood shelves throughout. Only miss was the run of the mill lighted beer coolers, but there is hardly a way around that. Staff was helpful and knowledgeable about their products and similar ones available in the region. Selection was small, but, other than local craft brews much of what they carry is not available at other stores in the Atlantic provinces. Prices were quite reasonable on many products and singles were available on everything, but the prices were rather high on the higher end products like Rogue, but not unfairly given their rarity in the region. Overall, worth a stop it you want to try something different and can’t travel outside the province.

Ayinger and Samuel Smith’s are the highlights of this place. Other than those two breweries and the standard locals there is not much here whatsoever. nothing exitng.

An attractive little shop done in stone and hardwood that certainly caters more to a wine n’ booze clientele than beer drinkers even though they have two walk-in fridges (that are insanely claustrophobic). The selection is almost non-existent; the expected local brews plus Sam Smith and Ayinger (but not the celebrator!?!?)., oh and Zatec. The prices weren’t bad but I’ve seen some of the same brews cheaper elsewhere in the city. And the service was horrible. We roamed around the tiny little shop for about twenty minutes and got nothing but hello and goodbye from the staff. Goodbye indeed.

Vin Art Wines is the only place in Halifax for beer enthusiasts to go for a wide selection of quality crafted beer. Great selection of beer unattainable anywhere else in town, Samuel Smith, Zatec, Ayinger, Rogue and much more. The aesthetic of the store was another surprising quality, it seems much effort was put into giving the store an authentic wine cellar image. The service provided by the knowledgeable staff was excellent. Vin Art may not have had the best beer selection in the part, but now a days, with lots of help from new owner, business entrepreneur Mickey MacDonald, Vin Arts selection has completely turned around. Check it out for yourself, don’t take the word of an immature reviewer who feels the need to insult people. This is about the beer.

Stocking Samuel Smith’s Belhaven, and McAuslan now, along with a few other breweries. Focus still on wine, but the beer selection is decent, and you can usually find a good cider or mead too. Service is average, but it’s a decent spot overall.

Decent if small collection of beers, carrying a bunch of Belhaven products plus Magnotta from Ontario. Their focus is clearly wine, though. Great lighting and temperature for a liquor store. Service loses a point for all the times I’ve asked if anything new was coming, got the answer such and such in a few weeks, then waited months for it to actually arrive. If you don’t know when or if it’s coming in, tell me you don’t know.
Update May 2005 - seem to be going downhill - selection of beer has been very limited lately.
