| yiannnos (12), , Cyprus | | March 1, 2012 Amazing little beer store with a great selection of German beers. | | Rasmus40 (62), Beder, Aarhus, Denmark | | November 10, 2011 Small store with lots of German goodies including some from the relatively new German Micro scene. They have some foreign beers as well, but most are fairly common. Excellent service. If you’re looking for a bottle shop in Hamburg, go here. | | Nightfall (38), Hamburg, Germany | | October 7, 2011 Great selection, by far the biggest in the area. Some hidden and unexpected gems. Fair prices. Very friendly and knowledgeable stuff. A pleasure to visit. | | gyllenbock (90), Stockholm, Sweden | | October 2, 2011 Visited on a Friday afternoon September 30, 2011.
This is without doubt the best German beer store that I have visited. They had about 250 different beers, most of them German.
The store itself had a nice atmosphere; but the best thing was the extremely friendly female owner. She was talkative and told me gladly about the different beers. I could have spent many hours inside the store.
I bought 12 different beers, the total cost was 60 EUR, the beers were unique so the prices were more than ok in my opinion. It’s not every day you buy German IPA, Imperial Stout, etc.
The store was easy to find, it took about 15 minutes to reach it with S-Bahn from the Main Station and with a short walk. It’s the same S-Bahn line that you can take to the Airport in Hamburg.
I would love to vist this place again. | | Houba (12), Hamburg, Germany | | June 24, 2011 Easily the best selection for hundreds of kilometers. Appears to use TARDIS technology (it’s bigger on the inside…). Well worth the ten-minute (or so) subway ride from the city center. | | sbs (10), , Germany | | June 22, 2011 By far the best selection of beers in Hamburg (and around). Should rightfully be a large, glittering megastore in the bustling city centre but instead is a far-off, minuscule, easy-to-overlook shop -- which tells something about beer appreciation in Northern Germany. Stand somewhat helplessly in the cramped little rooms before unlabelled shelves but the highly competent owner is eager to help. | | brugmanneke (19), , Germany | | February 19, 2011 Definitely Hamburg’s best specialized beer store. Looks small from outside, but has a large offer. Most noteworthy for its wide range of different German beers. Also has a good selection of ales from the UK, Belgium and many other counties. Offers well-known classics and beers that are hard to find hereabouts. New beers are added from time to time so that there is always something new to try.
The owner and staff are very friendly and knowledgeable and are happy to provide advice and service.
Located directly at the subway station, a few stops away from the city center. | | Holy (17), , Germany | | December 29, 2010 Little "hole-in-the-wall" with a nice selection and even better service. A must visit if you’re in Hamburg. Great selection of German beers, good selection of imports. | | Skinnyviking (113), Copenhagen, Denmark | | April 18, 2009 A few U-bahn stops from the central station and you will be there. Small shop but it has a lot of German beers in bottles and the lady behind the counter, who is not German (Dutch maybe?) is more than willing to tell you about the beers and assist you. A good experience as she knows what she is talking about. Some beers from other countries but not many. Fair price level. | alassio (3), does not count - explanation | | August 15, 2008 Other Hamburg shops (including big specialty shops like Graeff and Bierspezi) focus on cases of sometimes interesting German beers (but basically pils and weissbier). Bierland has a dedicatedly broad array of German beer styles (e.g., a range of kellerbiers, a collection of pils including one with 100 ibu) and the owner seeks out rare beers from small producers, along with trying to stock Belgians, U.S. beers, and others that are virtually impossible to find elsewhere in Northern Germany. She is very helpful with suggestions, and loves to discuss beer varieties and trends. When I commented that most Hamburg beer drinkers concentrate on just one or two styles, she added that customers from the former East Germany tend to be more open-minded and adventuresome in seeking out varieties of types and flavors! |
