| gsmitty80 (40), Washington DC | | November 20, 2009 I have visited both locations and have been twice a happy customer. The main location had about 22 different beers on draft at the time I went and i think a few cask beers. There were tvs to watch the game at the high bar and friendly and knowledgeable bartenders at both places. Got myself a pork sandwich that was excellent and the deep fried chicken/cheese balls are hard to pass up. | | savnac (57), Palmer, Alaska | | October 20, 2009 Nice place in the ghetto. Industrial brick feel, big and open on the inside. The service was excellent, but it was pretty dead when we were there. The selection was pretty good, lots of different beers on tap and a great menu. We had some German specials since they were celebrating Oktoberfest. Prices were pretty good too. Overall a nice place. | Barcode73 (1), , does not count - explanation | | August 4, 2009 Let me begin with this place is dumb. They still have monthly seasonal beers from 6-8 months prior of me visiting. Granted it looks impressive that they can have 15 beers on tap but very and I mean very few actually stand out. They all seem to have the same bland taste, i.e. Jolly Scott . Also the IPA I tasted seemed to have a certain oxidized taste about it. This company has a beautiful brew house and celler and 3 other restaurant locations, maybe they should not worry so much about expanding without taking care of the beer flavors first. My only pat on the back goes to their food, well layed out and great home cooked styled entrees. | | Jellobiafra (10), Port Charlotte, | | May 16, 2009 Been there twice now. I live in Florida, but my crazy uncle Charlie Buser turned me on to this place. Last time there, I made sure to purchase a couple sample 12 packs to bring home. The food is great, the wait staff is very friendly, and the beer was really good. They don’t have a giant selection, but what they do have is tasty. The place is not overly bright, which I like, and the patrons were friendly and enjoying themselves. Next time I’m in town, I’ll definitely be back!!! | Cakes (7), New Bloomfield, Pennsylvania does not count - explanation | | October 27, 2008 I think that you will be impressed with your visit here. I have been here 4 times.
At a beer festival, at a live XPN radio concert, and twice for dinner.
The place is usually hoppin.
The food is good.
The beer selection is very good. They will AT Least have two beers on the list that will impress you whenever you visit - even if you are picky. Watch where you park. If you have to park too far away - you might get a ticket from a meter maid. They just bought an old condemned building that they are having torn down nearby so as to create another parking lot. This should be a great help. | | TheCaptain (32), Lancaster, Pennsylvania | | October 17, 2008 Been in ABC a couple times and service was good and the place was rather quiet-this being a good thing- so seated right away. Some interesting beer items around the walls. Most all the beer brewed was available. Food good as well. Would like to do the tour sometime but I live in the area so no rush. I see others mention the Abbey bar, need to check that out sounds like it has some good Belgians. Latest beer I had from ABC was a Harvest ale. Hoping they would open a place closer to Lancaster PA. | | FanwickMike (33), | | August 23, 2008 [ Updated September 7, 2009 ] beer tour, 08/16/08. Have been to ABC several times, very consistent beers and food, although I wish they would put the bangers and mash back on the menu! Beer sampler was good, 10 beers of which my favorite was the Susquehanna Stout, nice flavor, although not much body or mouth feel. Nice brewpub, and I will be back to visit again sometime soon. | | FooFaa (25), Lebanon, Pennsylvania | | April 19, 2008 This place is HUGE. It’s a restored factory of some sort, but it’s a very cool setup. The brew house can be very clearly seen from the dinning area through a large glass wall. I think the bar area is a bit small for how big this place is though. The Abbey Bar upstairs is great: very comfortable, casual atmosphere with plenty of seating and live music. The service is hit or miss. Some are very friendly, helpful and informative while others give you the impression they’d rather you not be there, but that’s fairly typical of most places. The selection is very good. They always have quite a large number of their own beers on tap and they usually have a couple of cask beers on engine. The selection of Belgian beers in Abbey Bar upstairs is also quite good: St. Bernardus, Rochefort 10, various De Dolle, etc. The food is okay. I think the beer is very underrated here. The Oak Aged Barleywine is fantastic, as well are the Susquehanna Stout and IPA. | | grandet (13), Scranton, Pennsylvania | | April 15, 2008 Went in on a saturady afternoon, upstairs bar was closed for the rest of the day/night because of a wedding. Food was very good and I had a stout from the cask, a sample of a oak aged barleywine, and their wheat. All three beers were enjoyable. A nice place overall | | illinismitty (224), Nashville, Tennessee | | March 18, 2008 I stopped in on a Saturday night, and they were having a St Patricks day celebration. Naturally it was crowded and they only had two bartenders working.Ambiance is your typical historical building with brewpub decor. Nice long wooden bar. Service was not so great. For starters, they were paying no attention and it took a local to flag one down so I could order a beer. They were too busy socializing and washing glasses to give me any service. Once I found a seat, I was never offered a menu, and they failed to mention the special beer on tap that was not listed. The beers ranged from OK to Decent. I preferred the Belgian style beers over the house American micros. I ordered some Chipotle wings which were good. The service picked up a tad after the amateur drinkers left. Overall, my experience was OK at best. I doubt I’ll return. They do have six packs to go in case you want down a few at your hotel. |
