| tiong (26), Espoo, Finland | | April 12, 2012 Very centrally located and quite large bar focused on Finnish microbrews. Unfortunately the selection is quite small and rarely changes. They usually have some Sahti available, and this is a good place to seek for some commonly available Finnish microbrews. Just don’t expect to find any rarities here. Prices are also quite high due to the central location. | | swoopjones (190), Buffalo, New York | | October 18, 2011 Great looking pub, beautiful bar, chalkboards, huge murals, great finnish micro selection> | | drpimento (120), La Crosse, Wisconsin | | September 12, 2011 [ Updated September 13, 2011 ] Went here across the street after a superb dinner at Kosmos Resto. It was a mild, cloudy night with intermitant light rain and they had some people sitting outside on the patio. Inside was Steve the bartender who was very knowledgeable, helpful, and nice to talk to. Old oak floors and a nice oak bar. Brass foot rest and draft towers. They had large chalkboards on the walls with their beer list which seemed to be very weighted towards Finland - just what I was looking for! My first brew was a Finnish cask conditioned bitter, the second, a Finnish traditional ale, Sahti, and the third a strong stout, all were draft and microbrewed. They also have a closed off lower bar area which I had to go thru to get to the head. | | kermis (52), The Hague, Netherlands | | April 24, 2011 The best place in downtown for Finnish micros, with very friendly and helpful staff. Large venue as is common for central Helsinki | | Rune (234), Tromsø, Norway | | February 15, 2011 The pub/bar has got a very central location. The famous Kosmos restaurant is just on the other side of the road, and the Stockman department store can be found in its neighbourhood. Together with fellow ratebeerian Matti, I went here on a Sunday afternoon and had a fine range of Finnish beers, including a Sahti and the hard-to-find Everfrost, not to mention their own house beer, a porter made by the Huvila/Malmgårdin. A rather extensive list of Finnish micros is displayed on a blackboard above the bar. During our stay there were very few other guests in this open, airy and modern pub on three levels with a consistent dark brown interior. Ok service. Opens at 14:00 on Sundays (visited 06.02.2011). | | broddsky (16), Skagafjordur, Iceland | | December 18, 2010 Modern bar, nice service, good beers, recommended. They have Sahti if you want to try it out. | | bjakk (22), Skagafjordur, Iceland | | December 7, 2010 Nice modern place. We went there on an exploratory tour of beerplaces in Helsinki. Had Sahti, which was nice, but also a good beer brewed specially for the place.
A recomendation for beerlovers | | SirLimpsalot (23), , Sweden | | November 2, 2010 Nice location, good selection of finish brews. A place to visit if you are in Helsinki. | | gyllenbock (90), Stockholm, Sweden | | July 16, 2010 Visited in July 2010.
Modern place with a good central location. Mostly Finnish beers but there were also some others. During the visit I drank Huvila Pale Ale and Huvila Villi Wäinö Onni.
| | Marko (169), Split, Croatia | | April 24, 2010 The last stop of the "Good Beer" pub crawl before going clubbing. As others have said, more a trendy modern bar, fitting well in its surroundings than a beer bar if you only look at its appearance, but it’s a big place and I didn’t mind it. The service was ok, good, even if they did try to pimp some Brandy Lonkero to the girls instead of beer. Good draught beer list and bottled too (though I ignored it for the taps). Laitilan Imperiaali Juhla Olut, Stadin Single Hop Willamette, Plevnan Petolintu, Nokian Året Runt, Lammin Sahtia (though that one was unfortunately off when I tried it, and it was from a freshly opened canister!), Prykmestar Savu, some others (including that Lonkero on the list... eeh) and, most importantly, their house beer (Huvila Villi Wäinö Onni), that’s well worth trying but, thena gain, which beer from that brewery isn’t. Overall, found it was ok and pretty much a must visit, if only after some other places. |
