May 31, 2011 Hershey Lodge is a huge hotel near the center of town. Stayed at the Hershey Lodge for a work convention. Bear’s Den is a sports themed bar with plenty of huge TV’s on the walls. About 30 bottles and at least 12 draft lines. Local craft beer for the area, Troegs, is well represented with six taps including a ’Scratch’ series beer. As a ’captive audience’ this bar was a blessing. By far a lively bar with a good selection for the beer geek. Staff was young, and friendly. This is the type of bar I hope for in the hotel or nearby every time I travel for business. |
May 1, 2011 Ok so you are in Hershey and need a spot to eat with the kids, or watch the game, and need a good beer - I offer you the Bear’s Den.
Very good prices, decent selection and very solid food. Attentive staff, one night the waiter gave a friend a free sampler of three beers to help him choose what he wanted.
Stone Imperial Stout, Founders Centennial and RIPA, Young’s Chocolate, and a few other nice bottle selections. In advance of Troeg’s relocation to Hershey, there were 4 or 5 taps dedicated to them. Also had Victory, Stoudt’s, and a few other worthwhile brews on tap.
So will you be blown away, no, but will you find something to go with your wings, burgers or Fish n Chips. You bet.
