The Ginger Man is a fantastic place to spend a few hours drinking some great beer. A large selection of micro brews and a great patio equals an amazing time. You definitely aren’t coming here to eat as they have about 6 items on their food menu, but you stay for their wide variety of beers from all over the world.

A nice Houston beer bar with a bit of age. You can tell this place has been around awhile, but it gives a nice charm to the place. A nice combo of taps with some rarer beers coming through. Food is minimal and unremarkable. Staff is friendly and helpful. Value is solid. Worth a stop.

Nice selection of beers, very interesting to me as foreigner. Visited 1st time in January and will certainly return next time I am in Houston. Only wish they had the proper glasses to poor the beer.

The rating system doesn’t do this Houston landmark justice since the food is part of the judging. The Gman is the original beer bar in Houston. Great ambiance and character. It really is all about the beer with only a small, old TV in the corner. They only serve a few food items since that is not really their thing. My only knock on the place is that they don’t serve enough craft brews but that may change as the craft brew market catches on.

It is surrounded by other bars but the selction here for craft beer is impecible. Bring your own food because this place only sells pretzels and the like. Dog friendly outside seating before dark!

I have been going to The Ginger Man for over 20 years. It always has ranked highly with me. Unfortunately, things do not seem as good as they used to be, but that is a function of how that whole area has changed, and it was inevitable. Still, there are many good things about the G-Man. The selection still is very good, although it seems less diverse than it used to be. Part of that is their devotion to Texas breweries, which I can hardly fault them for. With all the new breweries, there just aren’t enough taps to go around. Service is variable and not particularly knowledgeable, but it is good that they have table service. If everyone had to cram in around the bar, that would be a problem! Food is what it is. They only have snacks. Don’t go there for a meal. The ambiance still is what brings me back. I love sitting out front or in the back biergarten. Joe, the manager, also does what he can to support the homebrewing and craft brewing scene. I also like that.

A nice small craft beer bar. Went to Houston on business and hit this place up hungry for good beer and a light dinner. The menu consisted of 5 or 6 appetizers. That’s it. No big deal I was just hoping for something more substantial. The beer list was typical of a good beer bar. Lots of taps and lots of stuff I can’t get at home in PA. Service was great as well.

Classic pub-style bar with the dim lights and smell of beer all over the place. The servers are always nice and exceptionally knowledgeable about beer and are always willing to make suggestions if you don’t know what you want. They have many special beers and seasonal, rotating beers, and all beers are fairly priced. I think I’ve had just about every beer on the tap list in all the styles I like.

Best place in the Houston area bar none! Great staff. Great patio. Great draft beer. Enough said.

The granddaddy of H-Town beer joints. Great vibe in a cool neighborhood. They suffer from the same distribution limitations as every Texas beer bar. But they always have a handful of tasty choices. They are a little Texas-beer-centric for my taste. Other than Real Ale out of Blanco I haven’t had too many Texas brews that did much for me. I know many of my fellow beer-loving Houstonians will want to beat me up for not bragging on Saint Arnold’s. But outside of their Divine Reserve series, they’re pretty average. Anyway, a worthwhile stop in the Rice University area.
