| BMan1113VR (279), Los Angeles, California | | November 7, 2011 Overall a somewhat smaller Whole Foods, with a pretty standard environment. Beer selection is about the usual, maybe a bit smaller than some other stores. The crowning jewel though is the growler bar. You can get glasses of beer, 32 or 64oz growler fills. Pretty great selection of 9 or so taps, most of them local Texas breweries (Southern Star, Karbach, No Label). Growlers are not allowed at my local Whole Foods, so one with a some good taps gets a good mark in my book. | | ahmashar (11), Stafford, Texas | | January 19, 2009 Again, not my go to store for beer, but the new Sugar Land location has a great walk in cooler, with quite a good selection. Not the best prices in town, but excellent produce department and specialty foods, as well as really good prepared foods, give it a clear edge. | | Zinister (52), Houston, Texas | | June 14, 2007 Good selection of beer considering the granola crowd. Food selection is good too....esp. the fruit/veggie and seafood. | | KAggie97 (213), Ugly, Hot, and Humid Spring, Texas | | January 21, 2006 Decent selection for a small space, but the store as a whole (no pun intended) is a little too Earth-friendly for me. Don’t get me wrong, I don’t pollute. But when I see a magazine with a cover featuring two people on a date with the woman thinking, "Could he be the one? I mean, he drives a Prius but does he compost?" I will have to say I will be limiting my visits. They have brews made by North Coast that aren’t available anywhere else, so that makes it worth at least one trip. I haven’t had the beers yet, so I reserve the right to retract that last statement.
Oh yeah, the check-out girl, Christy, was a little hottie. | | Aurelius (105), Tallahassee, Florida | | March 18, 2005 Limited selection, but I managed to pick up 3 singles that I hadn’t had (which is more than I can say for most places). Hairy armpit yuppy superstore, reeking of turmeric. Tiny beer selection - apparently there’s only the ones that are in the cooler area. | | fly (203), austin, Tejas, Alabama | | February 24, 2004 Pretty good selection packed into a tiny space for beer. Additional points for having a Bigfoot display w/ decent price last I was there. Plus the "beer guy" got into a discussion and he mentioned being sent a case of his favorite barleywine from Seattle and then asked me where to go in Austin for good beer. I'm hoping this is a good sign as my dealing w/ WholeFoods have shown that store clerks can determine what is stocked. |
