70 Visited on a quiet Thursday Lunchtime. Situated very close to the train station on the centre of the village. I was told the pub isn’t associated linked to the Empire brewery, which is just down the tow path along the canal. This bar was very spacious on the inside, more space than seats. Nice selection of local and regional beers on cask. Friendly staff and dog friendly. |
62 Quite busy mid day. Lots of locals. Several taps. Not in really good shape. A few infected, a few on the way to be bad. Quite a let down. |
76 Visited with JFE on Real Ale Trail 19.01.18. Nine handpumps. Cosy and local place in town. Wood fireplace. Dogs are welcome! |
56 Heaving due to popularity of the ale trail decent selection of beers empire features alot live music the band was just setting up as we were leaving |
70 This place used to be a real dump but has been taken over and has become one of the best pubs for miles around. The beers are all well kept and keenly priced. Empire beers always on and always excellent.
Best avoided on a Saturday when the ’real-ale trail’ lot come piling off the train every hour but otherwise definitely worth a visit. |
60 Visited here on Saturday 23rd April 2011. It was very busy being Easter weekend and with the great weather that we were having so maybe my take on it was maybe not quite as good as if I had gone on another occasion when not quite so heaving. Beers were decent, selection fine but nothing too spectacular. staff friendly. Good sized pub. |
