edgallow (9), nashville, Tennessee does not count - explanation | | May 18, 2012 Nice selection for a small store. Prices are higher then Tennessee. | drostj (3), Huntsville, Alabama does not count - explanation | | December 31, 2011 Great shop. This place used to be mainly a liquor store, but they now have a great selection of interesting beers and 40 on tap. Their selection changes pretty regularly and I am always finding new beers there. Good selection of seasonal beers. Friendly staff that seems to know their stuff. They also sell kegs and have all the tap equipment you need.
I noticed ericnixon’s rating - this is a standalone building and there are no strip clubs nearby - I think he may have rated the wrong place. | | magsinva (55), Virginia | | September 2, 2011 So this place is a dive that is working to improve itself by bring in craft beer and 40 taps for plastic milk jug growlers. The beer is typical Belgian plus some new surprises. They have a nice selection of lambics and some harder to find local and regional brews. I got a great deal on some glassware to go with my newly purchased beer. Definitely improved from it’s old days, but still a bit of a dive. | | DiarmaidBHK (307), Pennsylvania | | September 2, 2011 [ Updated December 24, 2011 ] Looks like a seedy liquor store from the outside. Looks like a seedy liquor store on the inside but they have an amazing beer selection. Don’t let the name fool you the store is about 70% beer. They have a fantastic Belgian selection including a nice lambic selection. They also have a nice Italian craft selection as well as really supporting their local breweries. They literally have everything great spirits have plus 300% more. They also have 40 taps of local and other crafts. I wish they had glass growlers instead of plastic jugs for it. We bought about 3 six packs of Belgians and locals and they threw in free glasses. Fantastic! I can’t imagine a better beer store in the state. Of course after revisiting after five months I noticed they had much of the same kinds of stuff as before so the seasonals are lacking. I think I was overenthusiastic in my earlier review so I’ve taken it down a few notches. | | bleeng (102), Houston nowhere near Beersel, Texas | | March 25, 2011 What they said below. It ain’t pretty but it’s the best thing going in Huntsville. The best selection of beer in town, with all the locals and a good selection of Belgians. Limited to 12oz bottles because of state laws. Best thing about this place is the ghetto growlers-superb selection of about 30 drafts on the wall-including most/all beers produced in Alabama. Available in 1/2 and 1 gallon plastic containers!! | | GTAEgeek (49), Atlanta, Georgia | | January 19, 2011 Unassuming liquor store facade. The interior is well laid out and well lit. There isn’t a lot of space, but it is efficiently filled. The employees are very helpful, although I didn’t ask any difficult questions. The selection is large, especially for Huntsville. They have a great Belgian section and lots of local and regional brewers. Most of the beers are arranged by brewer, and they have a large spread from most. The don’t have a very large selection of one-off beers or special releases. The prices are standard. Not the best place, but the best in the area. | | BeerHawk (52), Huntsville, Alabama | | January 2, 2011 [ Updated June 24, 2011 ] Largest selection in town with lots of local and regionals. They just added about 40 taps and fill half-gallon and gallon ghetto growlers. All of the locals (Straight to Ale, Blue Pants, and Yellowhammer as well as Good People and other regionals) are on tap. Good sized single selection and they will bust up six packs if there is a single you want and not in the single area. The service is always friendly, helpful, and dedicated to bringing more great beer to the area. If you cannot find it here, you will not find it in Huntsville. | | Cybercat (93), Georgia | | August 19, 2010 It looks a little seedy, but looks are deceiving. I was right impressed by their selection of beer, especially in Alabama with its tight liquor laws. I found quite a few beers that I have not seen in Georgia, and took home a couple mix-and-match six packs. The employees were a big help in guiding me towards the kind of beers I like, as well as towards local brews - and I enjoy supporting the locals! Some of the prices were a wee bit high, but none were outrageous. If ever you visit Huntsville, this place is worth finding. | | SpringsLicker (101), Tennessee | | May 10, 2010 Small place that covers the bases at a bare minimum.
Selection is decent for the area I suppose. Singles and sixes, warm and cold.
I found about half of what I was looking for, but they were nice enough to go in the back to look for what I wanted. They were surprised that they were out of so many; I guess they didn’t know there was a beer festival bringing in all of us out-of-towners | | ericnixon (57), Northampton, Massachusetts | | September 6, 2005 Heh, all of the sin stuff is in one place. Liquor store, tattoo parlor, adult bookstore, and like 4 strip clubs in this plaza. They had some ok stuff, and some singles. I was able to get a single of Bud Select and some other stuff I’d never buy in 6-packs since they’re going to be drain pours. The guy behind the counter was super nice, but not knowledgeable about beer. |
