NigeltheBold (5), , does not count - explanation | | May 18, 2012 Kind of a strange little place, but not terrible overall. The atmosphere inside is a bit dark and mellow. It has sort of an old/rustic feel to it. Very quiet and laid-back (at least it was when I was there.) I was disappointed that the brewery wasn’t very visible. I like to be able to see the tanks and brewhouse, but I could barely see anything from where we were sitting. We didn’t try the food, but the beer was pretty good. Definitely not mind-blowing, but not undrinkable by any means. Service was "just okay". The bartender was very nice but didn’t know much about the beers. | dougdecinces (9), Indianapolis, Indiana does not count - explanation | | May 13, 2012 A hidden gem in Broad Ripple. They usually have a good selection of beers on tap. Beers range from middling to good. Try the draught beers if you haven’t before. Food is very good. Much better than most brewpubs. Very good selection of vegetarian food. The place can be a little noisy and service a little slow during peak hours, so I try to go during off hours. Recommended. | | LilBeerDoctor (185), East Setauket, New York | | November 13, 2011 An English-style pub in Broad Ripple, Indianapolis. It is a dimly lit place with a very small bar (maybe 6 seats or so) plus tables throughout and some outdoor seating. There were a number of taps on (~8), I got the Java Porter (awesome!) and IPA which was pretty good. The food is English style and ok. I got the Shepherd’s Pie, and it was just ok, I’ve certainly had better. Anyway, for the beer this is a good stop and they seem to rotate their beers often, so there is always something new to try. A great stop and I’d go back again for sure! | | Drake (295), Charlottesville, Virginia | | August 15, 2011 Sigh. Didn’t like this place at all. Liked the ambience... labyrinthine with lots of dark wood. I sat at the bar and immediately felt unwelcome. It seemed like getting a sampler was a hassle. To the bartenders credit she did eventually sense this and brightened up but I had already decided not to eat and to leave. There were a couple of good beers but also some pretty mediocre ones. Prices seemed decent. Parking looked like it could be tricky. If I find myself with time to kill in Indy I might give them another try but for now I’m not inclined to go back. | hectorG (9), North Carolina does not count - explanation | | July 19, 2011 great place to grab a bite to eat and some pretty decent beer. the backwoods hillbilly in me liked getting the quality of food they served at late night hours | | Brandon8 (13), Indiana | | April 18, 2011 Indy’s classic brew pub. Worth a visit if in the area, but be sure to hit the other breweries in the area as well. Their beers are all solid (as long as you don’t get an infected batch; yes, they do keep infected beers on tap which is my biggest complaint). I wish they had a little more variety (read:hops) but it is what it is and it is pretty good. Modeled after a traditional English pub by it’s tradition English owner it has a nice ambiance along with good bartenders. | | drowland (116), Tallahassee, Florida | | October 10, 2010 A nice little place for sure. My bartender was prompt and knowledgeable, couldn’t complain there. The selection was mostly their brews, but that’s to be expected. Even had one on cask! Average prices. Overall, definitely stop by if you have the time while in Indy! | andyhwcinc (3), Chicago, Illinois does not count - explanation | | December 19, 2009 I went to this brewpub on a recent road trip with my band. There were 12 of us at the table, I enjoyed the sampler which was affordable at roughly $8 for 7 6 oz pours and also had the vegan sloppy joes, which were very good and were highly recommended by friends. The service was downright horrible, I think the server came by 1 time aside from ordering and bringing our food. Also, friends of mine got the Bison Burger and said it was way too dry and not worth the money. | | Teege (12), Orlando, Florida | | September 15, 2009 My favorite place to go in Indianapolis. Was an almost nightly regular when I lived there. I haven’t been in a couple of years, but I have many wonderful memories. I usually enjoyed the pubs house beers straight from the on-site micro-brewery. While usually crisp and delightful if not all that complex, some of their seasonal brews are way up there. The staff was wonderful, and though they were patiently waiting to go home after a long evening, they applauded me while I drunkenly sang Misfits songs at the top of my lungs during my going away party. The food, while certainly pub fare, was always delicious, especially the lawn mower chicken sandwich. I had too many great times at this place to tell, and I miss it very very much. | | EithCubes (158), , Germany | | July 12, 2009 Took me a few years to get up here, but very glad I did. Very busy on this nice little summer night in a nice little walkable part of town. Inside is dark and very wooden with lots of compartmentalized sections. Strange British enclave in the heart of the American Midwest. Nachos were very good and enormous; I have a near-bottomless stomach and had to take more than half home. |
