I feel like some of these reviews are out dated, because they have remodeled the Waterfront Hy-Vee, and now have a greater selection of beer. Still, Johns is better, but they have some interesting stuff at Hy-Vee, and can be cheaper than Johns.

Not quite the service as the Coralville Hy-Vee wine and spirits but still has an amazing selection for a grocery store.

Big selection of boring beers. The staff has always been helpful and the prices are good. They have a large amount of cooler space, which is a plus.

Eh, not a good selection, kind of awkwardly spaced around the store. No reason to go here unless you live really close or something since HyVee in Coralville has a much better selection and of course John’s Grocery is pretty awesome.

Last time I was in Iowa City I went over here because a friend of mine mentioned that they now carried more beer. I went to check it out but was not overly impressed by anything I saw. They had a few Bell’s, Lindemans, and a few other imports and micros. The majority of the beer was domestic macros and they also carry 40s. They also have liquor. As everyone from Iowa City knows, if you’re in the area the place to go is John’s Grocery. Update: This place has drastically improved by increasing their bottle selection and renovating the liquor store. A much wider selection of beers and now getting beers that seem to by-pass John’s Grocery in rarity, but not yet in quantity.
