| GT2 (196), Washington DC | | May 26, 2011 The Whole Foods in Jax has a modest beer selection at best. Really not worth going to when you can just hang out at Kickbacks, Bold City, and Intuition Aleworks in Riverside. Definitely less selection than Total Wine and More at the St Johns Town Center. Here, Florida locals are touted as stuff like Hurricane Reef lager and that awful Orange Blossom Honey pilsner. Please. You can find a selection of random large format bottles but nothing is too interesting. You can pick up some Orval here, which is nice. But it’s $8-9 a bottle, which is not nice. I would not necessarily recommend this place for beer seekers. Really does not have a better beer selection than the Publix across the street, which I highly doubt is in ratebeer places and probably shouldn’t be. | | azorie (26), Florida | | August 11, 2009 [ Updated February 3, 2010 ] Well its a grocery store that is for organic food lovers, and quite frankly folks with more money than me. The beer is next to the cheese bar in the back. They have a decent selection its about 1/2 of Total wines, but they prices are higher than TW. Service is non existent, not that you need any what you see and what they got. You can munch on some free cheese samples and olives which you browse the beer selection. They have some belgains Total Wine does not have and that is the only reason besides the aged steaks i would come here for, of course if i lived closer I might come more, sadly this is the only location we have and it won;t last long, it will die like Harris teeter did, there are not enough rich folks in this town to support this place for long. But who knows they "might" hang on. I do not count 75 different beers, its more like 65, but hey who’s counting, well I was. |
