Stopped in after the 2011 Great Taste to find a couple brews. It looks and is like every other Woodman’s in the area except with about half the selection. Stop by if you’re in town and in a hurry. Otherwise, make the trip to Madison.

You can’t even compare this one to the Woodmans on the West side of Madison, however, its probably your best bet if you are near Janesville and don’t want to the 40 minute drive to Madison or to Everetts in Beloit. The selection here isn’t terrible, but they never really get anything new in, just ok in my books.

As has been mentioned. The place has a ton of beer, and a ton of beer that most beer lovers probably need not buy/try. I was able to find the New Glarus (and the droids) I was looking for, but otherwise they could have fit the stuff I was interested in down to a cooler or two. Prices are good, no credit cards. No mixed sixes which might help move some of the crappier stuff.

a dumbed down verson of the south madison location. when i am back home in Rockford, IL and dont feel like going all the way to Madison, i go here to get my fix of WI beers-New Glarus and Tyranena are of abundance here and thats what i go for mostly. Prices are great but there is no help for those who dont know what they are buying. I go there and im on a mission "purchase mass quantaties of WI beers"

Who the hell finds themselves in Janesville? Seriously, why would anyone be here? Well, I was. Large supermarket, very large, and all wood paneled. I have this a food rating, cause I came here to buy beer and ended up doing some shopping. The produce is extremely well priced. Lots of local products. The liquor store is actually separate and is around the corner from the large entrance. The liquor store is humongous as well. Lots of all the WI goodies. No singles, except the put some Berliner Weisse was separated. Prices are nice, 7.99 for the Belgian red/raspberry Tart 6.99 for the regular NG 6 packs. Picked up some Viking, they had founders and plenty of unknown WI brew that I would not buy. Some Stone, DFH and Victory. Looking for a cheap NG fix. stop here if you are driving by.

First of all, this is the biggest damn grocery store I’ve ever seen - but that’s not what this is about, is it? - anyway, I guess if you happen to be in Janesville (which I was, although I have no idea why YOU might be in Janesville), it’s worth a stop - they don’t have anything you can’t find in the better stores in this area of the state, but for the town, it’s good - most common Wisconsin micros (with great prices on New Glarus), and a bunch of ones I’ve never heard of (unfortunately, mostly "craft brewed" lagers and pales ales of dubious origin) - like I said, if you’re in Janesville...

Not too bad of a selection for a town the size of Janesville (we still deserve better though.) They have lots of local stuff and other stuff from surrounding areas, but they keep a constant rotation, so the favorite beer of last week might not be there tomorrow. Most of the staff is pretty clueless, but if you have a chance to talk to the manager Jeff, he will be more than willing to order whatever you want.

A Woodman’s with no singles/mix-a-six section? For Wisconsin, an barely above average selection, New Glarus is now $6.99 a six pack, with signs up everywhere stating do not mix. In the German and UK imports, check for bottling/freshness dates, lots of old beer. The Belgians are displayed in open coolers under lights, so I didn’t bother. Great 40’s/Malt Liquor selection though, a good place for purchasing a cheap drunk. Also a good place for low priced/moderate quality Wisconsin meats, sausages and cheese. Under staffed like all Woodman’s. You also need to remember that the Woodman’s chain won’t pay processing fees, so no checks or credit cards, cash or debt card only.

I’d been to the Madison Woodman’s before, and was expecting a similar setup, but the Janesville location has a far smaller beer selection, and no make-your-own six pack. Needless to say I was disappointed. They did have some stuff I wasn’t entirely expecting, including Arcadia London Porter, Great Divide Hercules and Oak Aged Imperial, as well as the cheapest New Glarus I’ve seen ($6.39 a six pack). So it’s better than your average grocery store liquor department, but nothing stellar either.

Only reason why I go to this place is to get New Glarus beers and some other strange wisconsin beers. The place is pretty run down as compared to other woodmans I have been to.
