| jredmond (111), Manhattan, New York | | July 3, 2011 Went here with PJ, Neils, and Corbetta. A bunch of stuff on draft but a lot of shit. Some standard solid session beers, but not too much selection wise beyond that. Nice outdoor seating and the mozz sticks and wings were decent. Good for a larger group or party. | | ben4321 (117), Hoboken, New Jersey | | May 2, 2011 Had trouble finding this place on ratebeer because it was spelled wrong...
Anyway, now that the spelling is fixed, this place is pretty cool. A huge place with a giant outdoor area. The selection isn’t spectacular, but it is solid, and you can drink by the liter, which is always fun. It does remind one of a German beer hall a bit, and it is a fun place to drink. The prices are nothing special, but you can get a big ole stein of German beer in NJ, which is pretty cool. A great place for a nice weather day, but the crowd and staff can get a little annoying, so just keep that in mind before you go...
| CaptainSavage8 (4), New Jersey does not count - explanation | | February 1, 2011 Great beer selection (not the best I’ve ever seen but very respectable). Lots of room indoors and outdoors. They have screen televisions to watch games on and always have a healthy mix of people there to watch the games along with those just there to enjoy the beer. Easy to access by either the light rail (Jersey Ave) or PATH (grove st) and they have plenty of parking. | | puzzl (100), New York, New York | | July 6, 2010 Big German beer garden type setup with a wide selection of many German classics, and a few harder to find German beers as well. All the beer is super fresh and pouring in great shape. The only macros I spotted amongst some 40+ taps were Mich Ultra and Guinness. This is a great place to take your non-beer geek friends where everyone can enjoy a liter without people having to feel too intimidated by the selection. | | BiddleBrau (58), Fort Washington, Pennsylvania | | August 23, 2009 Beer bar with limited food but with basics plus some german wursts plates. Beer selection is not too risky but has basic European lagers/pilsners with some American brands. Fortunately no big American macros. Was family friendly outside with kids enjoying the rocks in the ’garden’. Location is in a very new section of JC. NIce to sit outside but generally missing the feel of a real german beer hall by a good margin. Food is nothing special despite the price tag for limited menu although the tap beer was reasonably priced. Best part - sitting outside. |
