I’ve played the AC a few times and it’s always a mixed bag. Definitely a hippie hangout, but typically with a few good things on draft. This was the first place I had Fat Tire (before it had reached Virginia). Prices are good and they’ve got keep pitchers of the macros. Food is pretty good (lots of vegetarian/vegan) but the staff can be a bit...uh....spacey.

its full of dirty hippies that i want to beat to death with a shovel. but that aside, its good to have a place like this around in Johnson City. a decent place to grab a beer if you want to avoid the usual sports bar or chain restaurant. cause trust me, JC doesnt have anything else to offer otherwise really. selection is decent, highlighting breweries in the NE Tenn/SW Virginia market like Depot Street and Highland Brewery. prices are pretty reasonable for draft, nothing over $3.75. have had a few different drafts here, none of them poured badly and no skunkiness. so kudos for that. if you can put up with the clientele in plaid shirts and the longhairs, you could do worse.

I’ve visited this place a few times since my first patronage. It seems that I went on a good day the first time. This happened on my most recent visit: Ordered a Shipyard IPA in a bottle since the keg was evidently empty. The bartender told me it wasn’t empty and went to pour a glass of foam and air. Apologizing, she offered to get me something else. I requested the Shipyard IPA in the bottle. I received a Shipyard Export in a glass. The selection was slimmer than my last few visits. Still, getting a real beer in Johnson City is a chore and I’d still stop here just out of necessity. They generally carry Duck Rabbit, Depot Street, and some Highland stuff so there are always fall backs.
