| finderman222 (10), , | | February 19, 2012 Not bad, a little pricey. Staff seemed too busy chatting to help me but were pleasant when i was at the register. Bottles seem like they had been sitting for awhile, not a bad place but not my go to | buckinbronco (2), , does not count - explanation | | January 28, 2012 The layout is tight but the knowledge of one mustached manager of beer was pretty amazing. Needed an ridiculous array of beer for a tasting and he had 6 out of 10.
What he couldn’t find he said he could order. Parking in back of strip was annoying as the 2 or 3 restaurants were all filled and taking all the out front spots.
Happened to be a Friday and place was busy. | | fgctigers (10), Michigan | | January 19, 2012 I feel like this place feels snooty. The girl at the counter saw me looking through the racks several time, made eye contact with me and NEVER even asked if I needed any help. Plus it all seems to be a little over priced....but that’s just on my budget. | | davidn17 (11), Wisconsin | | June 27, 2011 Can get good help if you need it. Decent selection and they get a lot of top-tier beers, but they hide it, so ask them if you are looking for something rare. Very expensive though, and they have a hard limit. Huge selection of imports. Very crowded and annoying to walk through. Not the greatest place, but still nice. | | jrallen34 (207), Chicago, Illinois | | May 27, 2011 Stopped by here after leaving Bell’s... its basically a grocery store, has some interesting ethnic things... beer selections is pretty big, but not overly unique, everything but a few Michigan beers are widely available... not a bad place, just not a place you need to visit if you’re from out of town | | zach8270 (54), Henrietta, New York | | November 20, 2010 Located in a strip mall with plenty of parking. Nice little place... like a well-stocked grocery store in the front with wine/liquor and beer in the back. Multiple door cooler on the far side with a few shelves of beer. Not a bad selection. Had your standard breweries (Great Lakes, Sierra Nevada, Founders, Bell’s, Short’s, etc.) coupled with a rather nice Belgian selection and other random international smatterings. Decently priced and worth a look around. You’ll find something interesting. | BAMF (3), Albion, Michigan does not count - explanation | | October 28, 2010 The place to buy beer in Kalamazoo | TMGrieser (6), three rivers, Michigan does not count - explanation | | August 2, 2010 large selection, decent prices | | Drake (295), Charlottesville, Virginia | | July 26, 2010 Stopped by here after visiting the Eccentric Cafe. Typical strip mall setting, and plenty of parking. The staff was helpful and friendly. This place is huge, with a large selections of beer, wine, spirits, meats, cheeses, other foodstuffs, and who knows what else. I didn’t venture into the downstairs wine cellar and humidor. Lots of beer. Nothing terribly rare but a few interesting selections and Michigan and US Micros are well represented. I picked up a few cool bottles and would have gotten more had I not already had too much beer for my luggage. Prices were good. Nice place to stock up on bottles. | | OSLO (119), Ames, Iowa | | June 2, 2009 Located in a strip mall just off of the business loop of 94, this isn’t much to look at. Within, though, is a great selection of singles, including a number of beers that have a couple (or more) years of age on them. Some of the stuff I have never seen outside of the store (mainly Belgians), and their selection of MI and Ohio stuff is pretty good. Prices are a little high on some things (DFH is outrageous), but pretty average for the rest. Staff is friendly, but I do not know if they know anything about beer. Definitely worth stopping at if you are going through Kalamazoo. Oh, and one final note, there is a container of malt liquor situated above the back coolers that is the craziest container that I have ever seen. Must hold at least 1.5L, and looks to be composed of ceramic shards put together. Never have seen anything like it in my life. |
