Some fun beers on the fairly small tap list, though they do have a ton of bottles. Prices are a bit high and this place is full of yuppies. I would recommend a stop here if you’re already in Westport.

Relatively small tap list, but a big bottle list. A lot of good bottled beers available, but it can be a bit pricey to drink here. My burger was pretty tasty. Overall, a nice addition to the beer scene in Kansas City, but if you don’t watch out, you could drop some serious money here.

This is a trendy new place in a touristy area that is incredibly and shockingly expensive. After looking at the prices, I had one beer and mentioned to the barkeep that the prices are keeping me to one and done. His response was that the prices are high because the rents in Westport are so high. Come on! This is KC, not NYC, SF, London or Paris. Someone unaccustomed to craft or imported beers would get the wrong impression.

Not an amazing place for beer except for their micro-brews (same as McCoy’s and Foundry --- all under the same franchise). Great food though

They try but the place is wayyy tooo pricey. Worth a pop in if you are visiting the Foundry/McCoy’s combo across the street (same owners). There are not enough taps and they are very expensive. They are trying to take advantage of the burger craze sweeping KC. But again, not worth the price. Ambiance is better than average but I feel this place is for wanna-bee hipsters, real hipsters can’t afford it.

(Visited 06/2011): Decided to stop in here as it is across the street from McCoy’s where I had dinner. Located in the busy Westport area south of Kansas City by Pioneer Park. The bar is at the intersection of Pennsylvania and Westport. Parking is dicey in the entire area, and I ended up finding a street spot several blocks away. The place is relatively small, with the bar running along the left side and seating opposite. The decor is mostly beer-related which is a nice touch. The 8 or so taps are visible behind the bar, and they have a board listing their current selections. As for the beers, there are 8 taps with offerings from McCoy’s, Grand Teton, Boulevard and a couple other micros. The bottle list numbers around 75 with domestic craft brewers such as Boulevard, Schlafly, Odell, New Belgium and North Coast represented. Imports from St. Feuillien, Corsendonk, Mikkeller as well. Service was pretty good on a weekday evening. The bartender knew the beers and was friendly enough. I did not try any food on my visit. Overall this is a pretty nice little bar that is worth checking out in the area.

Have visited a couple of different times, most recently for dinner on a Wednesday night. The set up is booths and tables in a narrow longer room, with a bar in one corner. Started with a beer at the bar, and the bartender was prompt, friendly and knowledgeable about the beers. Dinner followed at a table, and the server was equally knowledgeable on the food and beer. The menu is billed as "gastropub" which has become a catch all in Kansas City for slightly upscale bar food. I had the corned beef hash, which was solid. Overall, they have some nice featured drafts, a solid bottle list and decent food. Certainly a place to visit if you are in town visiting or a local. Along with McCoys and The Foundry across the street, you have a good night out.

Beer Kitchen is one of my favorite beer venues in Kansas City. The waiters are personally familiar with most of the brews on their menu and did a great job of recommending beers to people in my party who weren’t that familiar with most styles of beer. The burgers and other menu items were very tasty and complemented the beers nicely. The selection is large and contains microbrews from throughout the US plus rarer beers from Europe and even several beer-based cocktails. Some items are a little on the expensive side, but it’s definitely worth checking out if you’re in the area.

Great place, great staff, and quite an amazing bottle selection but be prepared, this place is very expensive. great sliders, great atmosphere, clean bathrooms, and in a hip part of town, but i spent wayyyy to much money here- my bill was way over a buck fifty and only had 5 beers, 2 samples, 2 drinks, and 2 sliders- and beer samples are ripoff, one was 8 dollars for 4 ounces, fuck! ... money was burning but still, don’t let that stop you- one of the nicest beer spots i’ve ever visited...

Awesome new place in Westport. Always go here when in town for work. Excellent, gourmet sandwiches. Very unique beer menu - constantly chaging with very good, US micros to very rare imports (some of which can be very pricy).
