| LabRat0369 (15), Somers, Wisconsin | | February 8, 2011 This place would rank much higher for me, except I was ripped off by one of the bartenders (ran a tab, paid in cash, then found they ran the card anyway). Add to that their "99 beer tour" was dropped while I was in the middle of it & they didn’t care to tell me. Their food was excellent; too bad their commitment to customer service is not. | | kmeves (100), Mount Pleasant, Wisconsin | | January 2, 2009 This place gets a few extra points if for nothing else than being on of the only good beer bars in the entire Racine Kenosha area. Great service, beers served in proper glassware and a neat marine theme make this a must stop. It is very clean, I didn t eat but the food smelled good. | | surlysober (24), Milwaukee, Wisconsin | | June 22, 2008 Captain Mike’s has a few things that are great about it, some things that aren’t so great, but still manages to average out to a pretty good beer bar overall. The bottle selection, although extensive (~250 bottles), is slightly boring (nothing all that rare or unique), but I was still able to find a few very good beers... Can’t say the same for the bartender though (she couldn’t find my first choice and I had to point out where my second choice was). Although the bartender was certainly friendly, I got the impression that she wasn’t exceptionally knowledgeable about beer (had to ask her for a glass for my beer). The food was good Wisconsin bar food (fried cheese curds, chicken fingers, etc.) at great bar prices... The beers were priced reasonably too. If I lived in Kenosha, I would definitely be a regular at Captain Mike’s, despite that this review might make the place seem somewhat mediocre. The bottom line is that the food is good, the prices are great, and the selection (although not outstanding) is very good. Plus, there are quite a few TVs and an electronic trivia game to keep you entertained. | Chopper08 (1), Pleasant Prairie, Wisconsin does not count - explanation | | April 22, 2008 I was in there last night (Monday) and played Beer Bingo!!! The beer selection is better than any Pub from Milwaukee to Chicago. The bartender told us that these guys opened another pub (Uncle Mike’s) and they have over 300 beers. I haven’t been there yet watch for my post. | amyd (1), Kenosha, Wisconsin does not count - explanation | | April 14, 2008 If you’re a beer geek in Kenosha, this place needs to be on your list! Excellent selection of bottled beer, both micro & import. A fun bar as well, they feature trivia & have plenty of tv’s, as well as great live music. The food is pretty typical bar food, but tasty & cheap. The service can be hit or miss, especially when the place is busy. |
