An older, dimly lit brewpub with a bar area in one room and seating in another. Bartender was nice if not particularly knowledgeable about the beer. A sampler of all the beers was available which was nice. Did not try the food on my visit. A pretty standard brewpub.

A really large place with a huge patio and bar area. Service was slow and not really beer centric. Selection was their own taps and some micros. They did do a tasting flight. Food was horrible, with small portions, typical crappy local snacks and high prices to boot. Beer surprisingly wasn’t bad. Nothing stood out, but the seasonals were tasty. Not worth the special trip, but a few good ticks if you are in the area.

Brewpub. Service was slow and not busy. Beers were hit and miss. Food was bad but typical of St. Louis with that awful cheese sauce.

Food was good. Beer was so-so. For a beer town like St. Louis, this isn’t the place to go for beer. But if you are in Kirkwood, it is worth a stop. And they have quite a few beers usually.

I happened upon Kirkwood on my 3rd day in the area. I unfortunately chose a night when they had live music. Talk about a completely weird setup. Music venue on one side, pub and brewery on the other. That said they had over 10-12 different beers available and most were very nice. I really enjoyed the stout and ipa. My appetizers were nice but nothing special. Decent value though. Honestly the worst thing was feeling like I was in an area where wanna be hobknobbers were there just to be trendy. Not sure about the surrounding area but it seemed like most folks were not there for the brews which was a shame as they had some nice suds.

Nice place. Pretty busy on a Thursday night. All beers tasted were of good quality. My favorite was the "RIZ" Russian Imperial Stout. Seems like a neighborhood hotspot. Recommend if you're in the area.

been here 3-4 times in the past 2 years. I only come in the evening and drinks only, never had food or even looked at the menu. This place has been around for a while in some form or other. The brewpub and the bar next door are a popular destination for the locals, love of beer not withstanding. Very packed on holiday-time evenings. But despite that the beers are all solidly made. I just stick to the seasonal, usually there is only 1 or 2 on tap. This year the pumpkin ale seemed to last too long and was pretty bad by Thanksgiving. Out of the standards the scottish stands out to me. Decent stop if you are in the area but low on the list with some of the new breweries in town.

Nice big brewpub in historic location. Good vibe and ambiance. Dark hardwood tables and heavy chairs, multiple large rooms with bars, concert venue, brick patio. Large picture windows to the brewery. Very friendly, well-informed servers. About 10 regular beers and about 10 seasonals, some of which are quite unique. Good food, fair prices. Sampler flights of your own choosing. Useful website. They even have periodic 5 course beer dinners, each paired with a fresh Kirkwood Station beer, of course. Highly recommended.

Very friendly brewhouse. Great service, great food and brews. Have visited a few times and will return again. Looking forward to the seasonal brews. The samplers were very good, but a full pint is even better. Hats off to a very good place to enjoy an afternoon with friends or family.

Highlands Brewing (how many unrelated Highland(s) Brewings exist?) is located right in the heart of downtown Kirkwood, just off the Kirkwood Road (Lindbergh) strip. There is a patio with an awning in front which may have been nice in warmer weather. There appears to be a larger, louder bar area on the left, with booths, a pool table, a stage, and so forth. On the right is the main brewing operation in the back through some windows, and the large room has a nice bar, some hightops, and plenty of tables. There were 10 Highland beers on tap and growlers available to go. They also advertised other drink specials, including discounted ’domestic bottles’. The service was friendly, but slow at times and unfamiliar with all of the food items and beers. We split a sampler, and the beers were just so-so. The food was also a bit disappointing; the pretzels in our appetizer weren’t even close to fresh, and the sandwiches and fries we got were pretty dull overall. This is one of the last local brewpubs I had left to visit, and it doesn’t quite stack up to the others in my opinion.
