May 6, 2012 Situated in the middle of Swedish Lapland and five to six hours by car from Tromsø, this is perhaps one of the best beers places in the extreme north (beyond the Arctic Circle). We were 10 people who took the trip from Tromsø and spent a weekend here. Enough beers on cask, tap and, not at least, on bottles to keep us busy for the weekend. The hotel connected to the pub was in the same building and so was the local Systembolaget. You could, in fact, walk from you hotel room to the pub and to Systembolaget without going outside. The cask menu consists of British ales from Fullers and Shepherd Neame. Apart from the fizzy stuff on tap there were a few decent ones from Swedish microbreweries. The bottle selection was the best part of it all, including craft beers from Sweden (Dugges, Nils Oscar), Denmark (Mikkeller), Scotland (Belhaven), Belgium, Holland (De Molen) and USA (Anderson, Southern Tier). Rather expensive, though, even for a Norwegian. A very cozy place, especially the laid-back library section of the pub. Great food, too. Friendly staff, however, some of them in need of better knowledge about their beers (Visited 27th- 29th April 2012). |
