Right next door to Suttree’s, so this place is ultra convenient. They can now sell both hi and lo gravity beers (what the HELL is THAT all about?). Selection was small but well chosen, and I picked up some Straight to Ale bombers that I didn’t see at bars or stores anywhere else in town. High prices. Worth a look.

A stylish wine store with a decent selection of higher titer ales (the stronger ales are sold by liquor stores in TN). Some decent imports from Belgium, Milkkeler, American micros. Prices are decent.

This wine store catering to downtown visitors and residents has improved the beer selection tenfold since opening in early 2008. Mostly foreign stuff and a decent but limited selection of regional micros. They have slightly higher prices than McScrooges, and only about 1/10 the beer selection. Still, I’m glad to see a place like this thriving in downtown and its cool that they have recently added a growler fill station. If the manager with the curly hair and zit face wasn’t such an asshole, I’d root for them even more. The other bot workers are friendly and knowledgeable and are mostly the ones who’ll talk to you anyway.

Downtown Wine + Spirits usually gets everything McScrooge’s does. I’ve gotten to know Shane (curly hair and mustache guy) and he has made going in easy, updates me on anything new. I’ve shared a couple beers with him and vice versa. He recently hosted a beer tasting and dinner with a nice lineup as well. He definitely seems knowledgeable about the wine and spirits part of the store as well. Very clean, stylish store that is geared a little more toward the upper class shopper, very few boxes of wine or plastic bottle liquors here. Prices are definitely in line with anywhere else in town with a comparable selection, especially if you get on their mailing list, but like I said with not much cheap stuff in stock it may seem like a more expensive store in general. Worth a visit, just be wary of when you go as sometimes downtown traffic or a parade make parking a hassle, best to just park in the Market Square garage and walk around the corner.

This is a decent store in Knoxville, especially if you are in the downtown area anyway. They carry most all of the over 6 abv stock available at the finer liquor stores. Prices are right in line with the rest of the area. They had a few Scotch whiskies I wanted also. The place is well kept and clean with good customer service. Other than McScrooge’s, this may be the single best high alcohol beer store in Knoxville, so it is worth a visit out of necessity.

Stopped in here on my way to the brewery across the street. Selection was nothing overly impressive, but they did heavily lean toward english and belgian imports more so than american micros. I did find some 2004 hitachino nyca. Prices were about average to what I had expected. Way more devoted to wine than beer, but at least they have some cold beers available so you can grab one for the road after leaving the woodruff building.

Kind of an upscale store, and definitely more wine oriented than beer - the beer is tucked in the back. The selection is pretty good, however, with pretty much everything in the over 6% range that you can get in Knoxville. Very stylish looking, as well.
