Ales & Lagers

Visited February 2020. Easy to miss, we were walking around and miss it two times :) Nice selection of bottled beers, mostly Australia and NZ, we picked some Taiwanese, too. 3 home beers on tap, all of them interesting. Friendly owner.

Visited in April 2022. Located in a busy nightlife area. Difficult to find due to being multi-level and lack of signage. Small and cramped. Four Modern Madness beers on tap - owner had no interest to discuss "brewing", but otherwise friendly and efficient service. Quite a few bottles available - mostly from Australia and US.

Small place that is easy to miss from the outside. GoogleMaps will take you to the place it’s located in, but there’s no sign for Ales & Lagers out front (only in the back), so either walk through the place or walk around to the back. Informal but comfortable, warehouse feel with plenty of seating. 3 taps, 2 of which were Modern Madness taps — on my visit they had the Mosaic SIPA and Black IPA for 12 and 18 RM, respectively, very reasonable for Malaysian beer pricing. The third tap was Rogue Dead Guy. No samples or smaller pours. They also have a fridge and shelf of bottles, most of which I saw at Beer Bank or elsewhere. Worth the trek out here with Grab to tick the Modern Madness beers.

Small place with 3 taps and quite a few bottles. Free WiFi. Aircon inside. Friendly service. Beers from America Australia Brewdog Japan and Germany. There are 2 Modern Madness beers on tap. Grab taxi is the easiest way to get here.

Cosy bottle shop manned by the affable and extremely knowledgeable owner, who carefully curates the selection, does great recommendations and serves up the brews pronto! Probably the premier place for your IPA and DIPA fix when in KL! Usually also has a good selection of stouts and porters as well. Great value too, prices are probably impossible to beat in KL.

Nice bottle shop where you also can sit down and enyou one beer. Service was ecelent. I counted beteween 70-80 beers on bottle. Great to be a bottle shope in Malaysia. Good selection, no pale. Wort a visit if you are in Kuala Lumpur area.

Wonderful small craft beer shop. All you have is craft beers and ales here. Ask Kenny, the owner and beer passionate to guide you through his nice selection of craft beers from all over the world. Selection changes all the time, so it is a great place to discover something new. You can also have a taste there.

Had a great visit to Ales & Lagers and a long chat with Kenneth who works there about the craft beer business in Malaysia. Great service and surprisingly good selection. Not as much stuff as in HK but having Stone and Victory in the fridge is very impressive. Highly recommended.
