| Scipio (10), Vernon Hills, Illinois | | March 11, 2012 They have the best selection of beer that I have found in the area. They have everything that I could reasonably want to buy, and they have some beer that I have never seen anywhere else. The head of the beer department knows his stuff and is happy to help. I asked him for something good, and he rattles off and shows me 5 different options and more than I could possibly ever want to know about them. He seems to really like his job, and is just the type of person you want in charge of your beer. | | JoePeesie (63), Long Lake, Illinois | | September 20, 2011 probably the best bottle shop in the north west burb’s. Pricing is fine, selection is almost on the level of Binny’s south loop, I would guess at least 1600 bottles. Staff knows their styles and can make proper suggestions when asked. | swoody (4), Wauconda, Illinois does not count - explanation | | September 23, 2010 This is a little oasis for those of us who live or work in the area and don’t have access to any spectacular brew stores. On my first visit to find some vintage Stone Imperial Stouts and Barleywines the staff was *incredibly* helpful. They pulled several boxes of brews they had just received up front so I could have my pick of the best they had available. The staff seemed rather knowledgeable about beers which is surprising for this area. Anyone who tries to find good beer in the area will know what I mean.
Overall I am very impressed by the selection of beers for a place which is located so far away from major traffic. Enjoy this little gem while you can, since they don’t have as *many* customers as some of the more trafficked areas there is a very good chance to find some rare brews here before someone snags them all up. I would highly recommend paying attention to the Binny’s Blog on their website for the latest releases and not waiting to pick them up in person. Kyle has been an extremely great help, too. He has helped me locate many different brews in the past throughout all the Binny’s stores in the area.
My thumbs up to this Binny’s for anyone in the area :)
- Woody | | Ughsmash (138), Waukesha, Wisconsin | | January 14, 2008 I took an obscure route home from a business trip to stop by this Binny’s. It had the typical bright warehousey feel to it, and it was on the small side.. I don’t think I picked up anything while I was here, but I had been shopping all week and had already found plenty elsewhere. This is probably a good stop if you’re in this area, though.. as I’m not sure where the closest comparable store is. |
