MapleCity219 (1), Indiana does not count - explanation | | December 1, 2010 very small place but very good beer. The guys behind the bar were very helpful. they always have their seasonal’s on draft. I will definatly go back
| | FlandersNed (16), , Indiana | | March 5, 2010 Chuck is a good guy and makes decent beer. Gotta love the seasonal rotations and variety (esp. the 2005 Mocha Christmas Porter!).
Not much to look at inside or out, but bring your beer coasters and the like to donate to the ever-expanding array inside the brewery, taste some samples and buy some beer to go!
If they’re closed, try some of the local beer stores - many carry their offerings! | Cabo (3), Indiana does not count - explanation | | August 19, 2009 Belle Gunness Stout is by far and away my favorite Back Road Beer | | lushawn (164), Boston, Massachusetts | | August 10, 2009 Went on a saturday. There is a sign outside advertising free tours from 1-4pm on saturdays. Tried a few samples and had a draft of the gunness stout. The owner gave a group of 4 people, myself included, a tour of the brewery. He provided many details of their relatively standard brewing process. Cool to see everything (bottling room, labels, fermentors, grain, etc) in such a small place. It’s a neat little brewery with tons of character. The owner and workers were all very helpful, energetic, and knowledgeable. enjoyed my visit. | bradyc (8), Omaha, Nebraska does not count - explanation | | July 14, 2008 This is what beer is all about. It’s a little hard to find, hence the clever name. It’s a small place shoved into the backroom of a factory. Our host gave us a little tour and since we homebrew said he wouldn’t bore us with all of the brewing techniques. He did show us the cooler which was awesome on a hot day. Unfortunately they were out of their signature beer, but he explained that it was because of increased demand lately, which is a good problem for these guys to have. Some people may be disappointed, but these guys do it out of love for their beer, not to make a fortune. We bought quite a few pints, samples were all free, got a pint glass, a six pack and a growler. Try the Belgian Wit, even if you don’t like Belgian Wits! I’d definitely go again if I’m ever in the area. | | dm9831 (34), Monee, Illinois | | October 21, 2007 [ Updated September 7, 2008 ] i loved this place. friendly people (Chuck, Gerald and Jim made this visit truly memorable). you drink in a warehouse reminicant of three floyds before the brewpub. but i prefer that kind of atmosphere. there were two customer dogs wandering around that were well-behaved and deserving of being petted. we’ll go back someday. | lmubeertrainer (2), does not count - explanation | | January 4, 2007 Found the brewery by accident...now it has some of my favorite beers. Unfortunately it is only sold in Indiana. | | Tmoney99 (331), Cincinnati, Ohio | | October 16, 2006 Stopped here for the Back Road Fest. Older clean warehose building with parking in front. Picnic tables, tent and German Band for the fest. Inside is basic and clean. Railroad tracks next to building is a distraction. Good selection of beers. Enjoyed the visit. | | StewardofGondor (122), Washington Heights - Milwaukee, Wisconsin | | August 22, 2005 Slightly depressing weekend visit. Only three beers were available on tap (fruit, dry stout and APA) and only one of their beers was available in bottles, which was also one of the few available on tap (APA). Guy working the bar was nice and accommodating, but it was hard to feel real enthusiastic given the circumstances. Probably won’t return, but it’s nothing against these guys. | | BBB63 (120), La Porte , Indiana | | June 18, 2005 My hometown brewery...tucked into the 1st floor of an old warehouse, it is the little brewery that could. Most people are surprised how little the operation is since they bottle, but they make the most of the space. Most of the time the normal beers are on tap as well as the seasonal of the moment. You can also buy Party Pigs and sixers to go. If in town, beermail me by the way! |
