| unclemike (31), Ft. Riley, Kansas | | September 15, 2011 Finally made it to Vegas and wife found this place had a great time. $5 for a sampler not bad. Bought a growler to bring home but drank it in hotel. had a blast will definately visit again when in vegas. Any place open 24/7 is a bonus | | Holy (17), , Germany | | February 12, 2011 Stopped by while passing through Vegas. Nice sports bar! Look for Kim - great service. Nice selection of beers on tap and bottles - one of the better selections I’ve seen in a sports bar. Very nice! | | BelgianBeerGal (42), Dayton Area, Ohio | | January 18, 2010 Quick rating for folks visiting. If you want to try Big Dog’s beers, this is the best location. Realize the smoke can get pretty thick in here though. Good deal to ask about the sampler and you can pretty much try everything. Plenty of TVs and video poker so the ambiance leaves a bit to be desired. Solid beers, nothing amazing typically. You can easily combine this with a trip to Tenaya Brewing by cab or car. KP includes bus directions in his rating. | | BMan1113VR (279), Los Angeles, California | | January 10, 2010 Decent brewery about 15 or 20 minutes north of the southern part of the strip. They do have a lot of parking if you are driving. Service was a little slow at first, but very friendly once it happened. They had a bunch of their beers and a few macro taps, and also Pizza Port Poormans IPA (odd to see). Lots of video poker machines at the bar and big screen TV’s. Most patrons seemed more interested in those forms of entertainment than the beer. Oh yeah, I think I might have been the ONLY person in that bar who wasn’t smoking. It really, really made it hard to get any aroma from the beers. Could literally feel the smoke going down my lungs, and could probably get a buzz if I took a big enough breath. It was like hot boxing. House beers were pretty decent. You can get a sampler of all of them (9 at the time) for $5 (I think the server was willing to pour additional samplers for free too). They have a beer engine (cask), but do not currently have any firkins to use it. | | Cletus (211), Connecticut | | April 17, 2009 A large place with a good selection of beers. Service was good. They offer growlers and they also have video poker. Smoking is allowed and can get out of hand. Try to catch this place during the day when it’s less crowded. | | Dogbrick (423), Columbus, Ohio | | October 10, 2008 (Visited 04/2008): Big Dog’s is located out on kind of a lonely stretch of highway on Rancho Dr not too far from I-95. They have a good-sized private lot. It is easy to see what with the big horse.
The inside is dark with the bar immediately inside the doors, with restaurant seating past it. The brewing equipment can be seen through glass on the left side of the establishment. They have an interesting flow chart of all of their beers posted in there as well. The overall theme of the brewpub is a sports bar/lodge, and someone is definitely a Packers fan. Smokers and bartop electronic gambling took away from the atmosphere though.
Big Dog carries 8 of their draughts plus a couple of Bud products, as well as a guest tap (Chicago Brewing, with whom I think they share an affiliation). They offer a sampler of the available beers. The beers are in the spectrum of Light Lager, Kolsch, Amber, Pale, Stout etc with nothing really standing out. The beers are all average for the most part.
Service was decent on a late weekday afternoon. The bartender was busy assisting people who were pouring money into video poker but still managed to explain the beers to me.
I did not try any food on this visit.
Overall I would probably not go out of my way to come here again due to the location and quality of the beers. Still, it might be a worthwhile jaunt to someone looking to get away from the Strip for awhile. | | kp (11), Woodstock, Georgia | | May 13, 2008 Best beer in Vegas.

Brew Dog’s has been a favorite of mine since the mid nineties when they had the Holy Cow at the top of the strip. I really missed that place after the fire. But from the ashes they rebuilt a better place outside of town.

This place will have a dozen beers available. Lots of standards and seasonals. And the seasonals can be anything from double IPA, to an imperial stout, to a barley wine (once they put on a year old BW), to one of the best scotch ales I’ve ever had. This is the only place in Vegas that gets into the Pizza Port Strong Ale festival every year.

This is otherwise a fairly typical Vegas bar. Machines are built into the bar and you get free beer (any beer) while playing the machines. Sound is off or very low so that it sounds like a bar rather than a casino.
*
Food is typical bar food, well prepared. They are famous for their steak sliders. These are small pieces of steak done on a bun similar to a White castle or Krystals but a much better execution.

To get to Big Dogs, take the 106 bus from the downtown terminal (about a block from Main Street Station). The bus will let you off right across the street from Big Dogs (it is almost at the end of the line). To get back, hang a right outside the door and walk down to the end of the block. The bus stand is across the street. Stop by the Lee’s Liquor store on the way and pick up stuff to take home or consume during your stay.

Don’t forget to pick up a Big Dogs growler to take back and enjoy with the lack of open container laws in Vegas. Feel free to walk around the streets and casinos chugging on your growler moonshine style. But beware that a growler of the weizen bock will kick your ass and drain your wallet, leaving you with nothing but pain the next afternoon. | | Inflames (30), California | | April 24, 2008 Place isn’t awesome but they deserve a better overall score. For those that went back in the day I say try it again. | | lb4lb (25), Austin, Texas | | December 8, 2007 Last stop of the 3 brewpubs we visited while in Vegas. Sat at the bar, and the entire area is a bit smokey and dark. Not the most conduscive to beer rating, but what can you do? Had 2 samplers of 5 beers over the hour or 2 we were there. Prices were reasonable, and while the bartenders were nice, it was quite difficult to get their attention even though it wasn’t too busy. Place was mostly full of locals, rather than tourists it seemed. I found that the beers here were about on par with the 2 other places we visited in Vegas. Nothing blew me away, although the fresh hopped beer was pretty nice. They had 10 beers on tap at the time we went, with a nice variety, and a micro brewed rootbeer that I didn’t try. If not for the dark, smoky environment, I’d recommend this more, but as is, it was still decent enough and a good place to sample a bunch of new local brews. | | presario (135), Stampede City, Alberta | | August 9, 2007 Ate at a table. Waitress was friendly and efficient. I thought the samples in the sampler were stingy served in almost shot glass sizes. They were out of the IPA. Food was good. Fairly dark barn. |
