| monkeychugg55 (28), Joliet, Illinois | | December 14, 2009 There are a lot of shelves of craft beer. Mostly stuff you can find in the Chicago area. Was impressed with amount of hard to find beers, for example, they had a lot of Angel’s Share, Founder’s Seasonals, and uncommon Rogue beers. Prices were very reasonable compared to Binny’s. The staff was more than eager to help. Somewhat out of my way, but worth an occasional trip. | | emerge077 (69), < RIP Johnnies, Chicago, Illinois | | January 26, 2009 [ Updated November 22, 2010 ] Ive been here a few times, most recently last weekend. There’s a new shelf of singles to make your own 6-pack. You can find plenty here that doesn’t make it to Chicago, such as Ballast Point, Green Flash, Boulevard Smokestack series, Ft. Collins, Dark Horse Tres, and a few others. Prices seem to have gone up a buck or two since last year. They don’t devote enough cooler space to craft beer, but they do have a great shelf selection. Be sure to check dates on the time-sensitive stuff like IPAs and lagers. The guy stocking the beer section was able to point out a few new arrivals. Staff is friendly and helpful. Look for the cool retro neon sign out front, their awning claims 500 beers, theyre getting there, still impressive for the area. Always worth a stop, near Starved Rock & Matheissen state parks. | | GranvilleTim (17), Granville, Illinois | | January 24, 2009 Rudy’s is a friendly place that helps the customer. You will likely be asked if you would like some help several times as you look through the selections. The owner or any of the employees will gladly take suggestions for beers to stock or will special order beers through their distributors for you. |
