| jandd1983 (87), Florissant, Missouri | | February 6, 2012 Went after going to Free State for lunch. A decent selection, nothing worth returning for. Was surprised there were not a lot of local brews available. Picked up a couple of items and thought the prices were fairly good. | | SudsMcDuff (112), .....Manchester United.........., Texas | | July 15, 2011 First bottleshop stop of my KC beer trip, had tohit Lawrence for the 2 brewpubs and some Kansas brews. Decent sized store, the beer gets a good look. Nice selection of locals, decent singles section. Prices are pretty good, got ola dubh 40 for under 20 and a couple of other special brews. A better than average beer stop. | | hopsessed (10), Kansas | | August 14, 2010 This store is relatively large for this town, and the selection is reflected in that size. Recently started doing a byo 6pk shelf. Have ALOT of cold beers. And for some reason or another, this place ends up a place for great beers to be stashed and forgotten about until I show up and Indiana Jones them out of the cooler. They always have at least two bombers of some awesome anniversary from 2 years ago, or some find to that degree. Despite the cheap linoleum flooring and the out of date look, the store is pretty nice. As is the awesome manager, Larry Johnson. He can grow a mean ’stache. Worth checking out. | | topherh (21), Kearney, Missouri | | August 9, 2010 Decent selection of what is available in Kansas including the Free State and Tallgrass selections. Typical bottle store feel. | | beastiefan2k (141), Lawrence (formely NYC), Kansas | | January 12, 2009 There are 2 locations of this store, the other one is better (on 23rd and Iowa). Both carry a lot of stuff so they get a sligtly better deal, so you may save a 50 cents on a sixer or a buck of a large bottle. They are allocated more of the rare stuff and also once in a while sell a sixer at the end of the season for a whole lot less. But a bit too much of a commercial feel to it. And again, the wont have anything the other good beer stores in town have, they just may have more or a penny less. | | theisti (273), Leawood, Kansas | | January 6, 2009 [ Updated May 15, 2009 ] This is a decent sized liquor store with a good selection of domestic micros, OK selection of Belgians and not too much else. Nice displayers of 40’s near the front door. No service to speak of, though I didnt seek any out. This had a bit more than Jensen, but not as much more as i would have expected given the size differences. Not even a block from Jensen’s, if you are going to hit one, i would recommend hitting both. | | bearlybrewed (19), Colorado | | September 15, 2008 Pretty good selection and staff always willing to discuss products. Can be a little stackey with mass produced stuff, however, they do have a nice selection of micros. | midesti (2), , Wyoming does not count - explanation | | September 2, 2008 Good selection overall, definitely greek-staffed with sports on the overhead television, no mixed 6-packs... If you want a uniquely Lawrence beer shop, check out Jensen’s just across the street. | | KUEric (106), Washington, Washington DC | | February 21, 2006 A cement styled liquor store. Its in a college town, so expect towers of macro cases, but they also have rather impressive rows of wine racks. The back of the store has a wall of coolers with six-twelve packs of the basic micros found in Kansas. Great Divide (and lots of Colorado), Sam Adams, Boulevard, Pony Express, and your just rarer than normal imports. Good but not great, although the staff is quite helpful (although there is likely to be your average greek life student working here as well). | | 3fourths (962), Boulder, Colorado | | December 14, 2004 [ Updated January 7, 2009 ] Medium sized store, probably the best bet in Lawrence. Back wall of coolers, decent seasonal selection. Easy to find. |
