| Leighton (226), London, England | | January 31, 2012 This place is really legit. I grew up in the area and take great pride in having a place like this around. Moe’s serves up a great range of [almost exclusively] American beers in both bottles and on tap. (I saw some Unibroue kicking about.) The bartender was very friendly and happy to suggest beers. The draft range on my visit was excellent, containing both local beers and national. There is craft beer ephemera covering almost every surface in the place, and it’s fun just to let your gaze go wild while here. The draft beers ranged in price from $5 to about $8 or $9. If I recall correctly, there is no food served here but you are free to bring in your own. Moe’s is by far the best bar (that I know of) within at least a 30-mile radius. If you are driving through the Berkshires this place is a must-visit. | ryankinbk (2), New York does not count - explanation | | December 28, 2011 Very close to perfect. Back in the day when they served food (such as their amazing DFH 60 wings), they were nearer to the divine.
Still, a wonderful bar with a great rotating selection, awesome and extremely knowledgeable bartenders, and a cozy atmosphere.
Easily one of my top 3 favorite beer bars in the US. | newconnoisseur (4), South Egremont, Massachusetts does not count - explanation | | March 30, 2011 Moe’s has established themselves as both a haven for local folk and a destination for those seeking a miriad of superb beer choices. If you are overwhelmed by the number of beers, their highly knowledgable bar staff will provide suggestions, guidance or education depending on your level of sophistication. The owner’s dedication to quality beer and spirits will snub the macro crowd but they may go elsewhere. Otherwise, all will feel welcome here as it is a bar with jovial comeraderie, safe for female afficionados, fledgling micro-drinkers or seasoned connoiseurs. | | MikeF (205), Cleveland, Ohio | | May 29, 2010 A great stop if you are anywhere near this place. Not the largest draft selection, but very high quality. Many hard to find brews on draft. Very knowledgeable and friendly service. Simple food menu, but everything they make is excellent. There burgers are very very good. | | williamherbert (50), Syracuse, New York | | April 28, 2010 A must go-to whenever in Lee, MA or even close to the Berkshires. A friendly, welcoming atmosphere, terrific tap selection and even better bottle selection. You feel like you’re home when you’re here.
The beer is pricey, but it’s worth it for what you’re getting. The food is very solid. Lots of space. I’ll never go through Western Mass. again without visiting here. | | SuIIy (52), Natick, Massachusetts | | February 17, 2010 Went here for dinner with my wife. I had an awesome cheese steak and my wife, a somewhat picky eater and non beer drinker, loved her burger and the ambience. We shared sweet potato fries that were awesome. Amazing bottle list and a solid draft list. I had a cookie jar porter and indulgence stout on draft. The owner was there helping out and although I wasnt there long enough to speak with him, he seemed very in touch with the customers. Highly recomended for anyone visiting the berkshires. Go out of your way if needed, awesome place! | | JFGrind (72), Glenside, Pennsylvania | | June 27, 2009 [ Updated July 5, 2009 ] Literally stumbled upon Moe’s Tavern while walking around Lee, MA. Happily ducked in for a drink and was welcome by Troeg’s, Victory & DFH neons and signage. Made a Philly boy feel comfortable. Selection was wide ranging with more national brands than local. Bar was all locals, bartender knowledgable, proper glassware and large windows to view the streetscape & draft list. Nice local place that I was happy to stumble upon. | sraimondi (1), Torrington, Connecticut does not count - explanation | | January 26, 2009 This place is a mecca for craft beer lovers. Its the kind of place, which exudes, "come on i and let’s be friends". It reminds me of growing up in the Manhattan area, where almost every neighborhood had a Moe’s.
The beer selection is quite varied with high quality draft and bottle specimens. The bartenders also actually know what they are pouring/selling; a refreshing take, as the servers in many beer bars often have no clue and don’t care. Back to the beer selection. About a dozen draft lines with the brews of some of the best brewers in the USA, e.g. Avery, Boulder, DFH, Stoudt’s, Founders, etc., and some off-beat ones too (Troeg’s, Rogue, etc.). Proper glassware is often used. The bottle list is also first rate. I really like that it is categorized by style; a real plus for newbies and old-timers alike. While Moe’s carries mostly USA brews, they usually have Unibroue offerings and some high-end Belgians.
I have only had the fries, but they are very good, "frite-like", and | | hophead637 (10), Lenox, Massachusetts | | January 26, 2009 [ Updated January 30, 2009 ] An awesome local bar. All domestic microbrews. Decent selection from across the spectrum. Wish there were more Trappist style brews there. The food is pretty good. Their wings are fantastic, sweet but not too, spicy but not overly. The fries are some of the better ones i’ve had. Great service. I love meeting friends there for a couple and a bite. I would highly recommend it to everyone. just visited again.... these guys change taps all the time... they have a facebook page with notification about which beer is in house.... AWESOME!!!! |
