| edpeg (30), Berlin, Germany | | February 18, 2012 Brewery pub restaurant. Visited the place several times mostly for Bayerischer Bahnhof Gose. The Gose is naturally great beer. Theor food options are also quite good and quite cheap. I had goulash for 3,50 euros or so and the portion was more than enough. Apart from Gose the brewpub serves other beers brewed by them, of which none is really that special: Pils, Hefeweizen and Dunkel. This was the case in 2009 - 2010. The interior is really huge and consists of different parts. The main hall includes nice example of copper brewing kettle. Well worth the visit. Don’t expect the waiters to be knowledgeable about Gose, though. | | lambic (16), Newton Poppleford, England | | February 13, 2012 Lovely interior, Great food and of course Leipziger Gose on draught. Essential. | | TreinJan (169), Leiden, Netherlands | | December 12, 2011 Hausbrauerei in a part of a former railway station, a beautiful building that will be a station again, albeit underground and for local traffic, instead of long distance trains to Bavaria. Very nice interior with a lot of different rooms around the shinig coppers. Good food and four regular beers, including the Leipziger Gose, plus seasonals. | | kappldav123 (10), Markkleeberg, Germany | | July 14, 2011 I’ve been here several times and always liked it. Great beers and the legendary Leipziger Gose. Always great to have a glass of it at the Bayerischer Bahnhof. Food and prices are good, service very friendly and helpful. Whenever you’re in Leipzig you should visit the Bayerischer Bahnhof! | | INDASTRIA (33), Berlin & Rome, Germany | | June 20, 2011 Man, I love this place, it is TOTALLY AMAZING. An entire railroad station renovated and refurnished just to create an outstanding brewpub.
Obviously they brew and serve “THE” gose (I have to write it so. this beer is out of this world) and probably you’ll go there for that but, trust me, all of their beers are very very good and surprising. The selection is obviously limited (they have few commercial beers more beside theirs) but you have to understand that this is a brewpub, ok a huge one, rather than a beer restaurant.
and let me say one thing more: i went for the beer but the best part was the food! I never had a such GREAT dinner in Germany. Every dish is HUGE and extremely cheap.
Also the service is fast and perfect: the beers are served at the proper temperature and the waitress are very kind.
For a reason mentioned above I had to take the “selection” score down. but the BB is perfect anyway, a beer temple. you have to visit it.
| | fugitive (133), Athens, Greece | | November 30, 2010 The old train station has been transformed in a nice, modern place. Great food, top service, and of course Gose.A must visit. | | Scauca (35), Lovere, Italy | | October 18, 2010 Set in the old train station this very large brewpub looks like a bit too modern for my likings, but is overall nice, clean and genuine. Been there for dinner and lunch both and food, tough being German, is very good, abundant and well presented. The staff is helpful and speak the necessary English. The beers are nice but served too cold and carbonated, as in the whole rest of Germany. | | OldMrCrow (49), Seattle, Washington | | December 21, 2007 Coming to Leipzig I was eager to try the local gose. While the gose here was second to the Döllnitzer Ritterguts Gose, this place was definitely worth a visit. Very cool classy brewpub in the old train station. Nice food, relaxed enjoyable atmosphere, good beer. | | larsga (136), Oslo, Norway | | October 15, 2006 Very nice brewpub, located in an old railway station, with a very thorough train theme throughout. There’s a railway car inside the place, as well as small model trains and other train references all over. Including the "motto", which has a pun on trains in it.
The place is pretty modern-looking, and in addition to style it has a bit of soul. The customers are mostly normal Germans out for an evening meal or beer, but the place is kind of noisy, because of the bare walls.
The music is dreadful.
The food is traditional German fare, and quite well made.
No complaints about the service. I had to do with 3-4 different people, and they were all very helpful. The amount of English they speak seems to vary, but they are helpful regardless.
You can buy Gose in bottles to take away. | | EithCubes (158), , Germany | | May 18, 2006 [ Updated June 4, 2007 ] Great brewpub. Inside a former train station (for lines linking Saxony to Bavaria). Outside, if you can see over the construction, stands the oldest remaining Kopfbahnof terminus in Europe, site of a future U-Bahn station. Professional brewer, for sure. The train-themed line of beers is worth steaming though, certainly for the Gose, but the pils warrants attention, too. Note: This Gose, while unique, isn’t the one you’re looking for. I’ve had good and iffy service, though I’ve only ever been there during the dead hours. Lots of partitioned areas, includes an arcade-like Wintergarten and a small outside Biergarten, replete with sandbox and small play area for the kiddies. Inside’s a nice combination of steel, iron, copper, and wood, and I could tell I’d sat in a former ticket-selling area. Could do without the muzak. For the food, hearty local fare, good Haxe, and I enjoyed my Kraut and Leberkäs a bit too much - though the beer tasting might have had something to do with that..
Nearest tram stop is, of course, Bayrischer Bahnhof, via the 2, 9, or 16. |
