L’Abbaye des Saveurs

Bottle shop located in Lille-Vieux, 15 minutes from central station. Affiliated to La capsule. Nice and big beer selection. Ridiculously less prices for some Belgian beers like Dupont Saison (1,50€). Also French and British beers offered. Also some french food specialities like potjefleesch offered in glasses. Nice shop and maybe even better than Celestine‘s. But the service could be better.

Small shop with lots of really good beers. Lots of local beers but also fine foreign beers. Helpful staff that knows most of the beers.

De shop is gelegen in het oude centrum van Lille vlak bij La Capsule (zelfde eigenaars trouwens). Het interieur is proper en heeft een iets of wat oud en authentiek uiterlijk. Het aanbod was grotendeels Frans aangevuld met een aantal Belgische. De prijzen zijn eerlijk en misschien eerder aan de lage kant. In tegenstelling tot hun prijzen is de service een pak minder rooskleurig. De twee mannen aan de kassa waren druk aan het praten met dezelfde klant en hadden geen oog voor de rij wachtende aan de kassa.

Bottle shop in Lille, owned by the same guy as la capsule. The interior is very nice, it looks very clean and ’crafty’. The most expensive beers are behind locks, which makes them look extra cool. The beers offered were mostly French, some Belgian ones ( can’t believe those absurdly low prices !!! They have a cantillon Magnum ( 1 each in the Brewery at 25 euro ) in France for 30 euro, not even sure if limited. I was being respectfull for the French geeks and didn’t take any, but damn, I was in doubt to take all ! other ’bics are also very low priced, which just proves that they’re not trying to reip people off. Some other internationnal beers, spotted a few US ones, a few European ones,... The service was a bit less here, as they were to buisy having a chat ( both of them, with the same customer) to help us out. Anyway, this might be a once-as-an-acception thing. Still the best of the 3 bottleshops we visited to me.

It is a cozy place with a good selection, but do NOT trust people and do NOT ask cashier/consultant inside to recommend you good beers as I did. Almost everything that he recommended was a shitty/mediocre beers. Or you need to tell him before how many hundreds/thousands beers you’ve already tried before recommendation to avoid such situations.
