This was also off the tourist area. Some nice beers that you cannot find at other bars in town. I really liked the small place with garden and many areas to relax. the staff was top notch. A nice old English Pub. No food when I was there.

Took me a while to find this all Samuel Smiths brewery and got into discussion with all walks of life here. Enjoyed Three Samuel Smiths beers on tap, of course.

Good for a laugh and just a social visit. Now with S. Smith in the saddle everything has gone Tadcaster. You can have a fine blended Samuel Smith Whisky or Cognac, maybe some Samuel Smith lemonade or perhaps one of their beers. I don’t suppose they use Samuel Smith’s toilet cakes in the men’s rooms. Good for the odd tasting but a little too much of the mother-load can give you a nasty headache.

We went here after a Christmas party for work years back, it was good fun. I would revisit for the memories.

Having been the Courage brewery tap, the building is interesting and historic, although not in a quaint way (like The George say). Once upon a time no brewery was complete without its own tap attached, and those places were more concerned with dispensing the beer in tip top condition than providing plush ambience. The place has a distinct locals feel to it. Service was courteous but bemused - as in "who are these blokes with notebooks ordering a half of every drink in the house, then leaving half of it". The beer is all Sam Smiths keg and bottles. Now I imagine that many visitors from overseas, who hold Sam Smiths bottled beers in high esteem, will want to bag all the other Sam Smiths beers while in England (they’re likely to be a big diappointment by the way) and coming here would be one way of doing it. However, there are more conveniently located and obviously tourist friendly establishments (The Princess Louise, The Citie of York, The Cheshire Cheese, The Champion etc etc) - many of which are architectuarally stunning - where that could be accomplished. For myself, if I find myself in the Tower Bridge area needing a quiet backwater for a secluded tipple, I could conceivably see myself visiting again. But its a long shot.

I know we had a fun time there and it works for getting your Sam Smith’s scores up - but...... It’s horrible. Why was it listed?

6 different rooms. Somber wood paneling. Dirty brown embossed wallpaper. No crowds. No cask beers - all keg or bottles. Interesting place.
