| trapped (16), , Turkey | | May 17, 2012 Very nice atmosphere but a bit noisy because of the crowd; great food, eight beers on tap and 70 bottles including five of the trappistes. A nice restaurant with a few good beers. | | madmitch76 (69), , England | | April 4, 2012 A reasonable selection of bottled beers in this cavernous and characterful place. Service is usally friendly and efficient but I have encountered the occasaional fluff head in here! Food usually pretty good. | | dula117 (10), , | | November 2, 2011 They serve very nice mussels and also nice beef carbonada . They also had a big selection of beers for the uk. | | ndon (52), London, England | | August 18, 2011 Good food, good service, the beer list was some decent belgian beers, but not very comprehensive. Decent enough, but not worth the hype | | EdKing (69), London, England | | May 24, 2011 [ Updated May 26, 2011 ] Contrary to a lot of the miserable bastards below this is pretty good as long as you don’t catch it when it’s really busy. Beer list is good range of well known Beglians: Orval, Westmalle, Hoegaarden, Steenbrugge, Rochfort 8 and 10, and some white and blonde Belgians on tap. About 35 beers in all. Also range of fruit beers and the odd Iambic in the connoisseurs section. Food is tasty if you choose the right thing: Beef Corannade is great. Moules also good. Chicken average. | | SilkTork (70), Rochester, Kent, United Kingdom, Wales | | July 25, 2010 Expensive. Noisy. Poor selection. | | Alphadelic (48), Portland, Oregon | | December 8, 2009 This is so much larger than I had expected. Though not that full as I was there at a lunch time. I had the gueze based stew which was pretty tasty though a little indelicate. The staff were attentive though clueless. The selection, well I didn’t have much time to get into it but it looked OK. Lots of the same things that one sees popping up all over the place nowadays.
I’d go again as it was totally reasonable and its a nice place to take people as it allows for some remotely interesting drinking without being too geeky. | | thewolf (138), Kolding, Denmark | | April 24, 2008 Damn, this was a noisy place! No sound-proofing and a lot of guests. There was quite a bit of waiting to be seated. Food was okay, bordering on nice. It wasn’t Belgian in any way. Limited Belgian beer selection. Service was swift and impersonal - I always dislike places that automatically charge tips... | | Hoser (137), Cowtown, Alberta | | March 2, 2008 Food was good and moderately priced for London. They had a nice selection of Belgians, I didn’t really expect much and I wasn’t disappointed. It didn’t hurt that our waiter was French Canadian. | | bhensonb (375), Woodland, California | | August 8, 2007 Back in the day of servitors in Trappist style robes, when moules were a new experience, and Belgian ale was a mystery, the semi-refectory style dining was a treat. Things move on and the view changes. Worth a visit, particularly if you can’t easily get to Paris (Au Trappiste) or Belgium. |
