58 Visited on a Tuesday afternoon in early July 2015. Lots of Belgian ales and a couple local brews on the beer list. Food options seem tasty but I didn't eat here. Not really a beer destination. (3/7/9/NA/7/10) 58 |
66 Big out front patio and dark wood old pub interior. Decent service but no idea what is on tap without asking. Macros and a bit of a local selection. Lots of empty taps. Didn’t eat, but looks OK. Your not going to get anything interesting here. |
60 Usually a dozen or more worthy taps on offer with Denison’s, McAuslan, F&M, and Wellington regularly available. Live music focus means it’s usually quite loud in the evening. Food is hit or miss; I’ve had luck with the burgers and soups but everything else has been awful. Another issue is that, while they happen to serve micro beer, they aren’t passionate about it one way or another. Overall, this place lags behind Milos’, Beertown, Morrissey House, and The King Edward, but it’s still a decent pub. |
76 Recently taken over by new owners, this place has a new life. MOst food is locally sourced and the beer has a local theme too. SOnita tries to get beer from within 100 miles of the pub, and a lot of the food is sourced from the same area. The menu is upscale pub foor with a seasonal twist. SPring Leek Salad, Local Lamb, Crab Apple Salad, fondue with cheese made with local beer, etc.The place has a large patio which is usually fairly busy. Inside, it is typical pub decor with a homey feel to it. Pub quiz night is a solid night to go on to get to know the owners and regulars. I find it better to go to the bar to order your drinks, as table service can be a bit lacking. Taps total 20, including Railway City, STratford, Creemore,Black OAk, Great Lakes, Steamwhistle, and the bottle selection is limited but has included many micros. I’ll return for the harder to get Ontario micros they seem to always get. Worth checking out. |
68 i stopped here after a delivery run to the london area. the taps are micros and imports and the bottles are macros. this is not the best beer spot in london but its an ok spot to have a beer. my pint was $7 + tax and tip. if it wasnt already added to the places section i wouldnt have added it. |
72 The Black Shire Pub is a unique gastro-pub located on 511 Talbot street in London, Ontario. The Black Shire takes its name from the Black Shire breed of horses of England, which are known for their strength and nobility. For the past century, Shire horses have delivered beer daily in the city streets of London, England, and are the breed that carried knights into battle in the armies of King Henry II. |
