Visited on a Friday evening in December 2015. Set back off the road with a huge outdoor drinking area, a couple of large rooms and a decent trek to the toilets this is a popular old place and is attached to Vinopolis. Beer range is expensive and provided by Meantime with a few guests and a Brew Wharf Pilsener (3.9%) on keg. Not sure who brews it though. Service was OK, decent feel to the place but rumoured to have been sold and closing. Had visited it whilst it brewed and was pricey back then. Better places in Borough to be honest but it’s OK.

Weird to be back in Stoney Street, since I lived there in 1983-84.This brewpub is quite large and this Monday at mid day had a rather deserted atmosphere - no wonder, since the staff told me they’re closing down and moving to other premises. Tried their Brew Wharf pilsner (3,9%), which was surprisingly fresh and piquant.

Mostly a restaurant. A decent range, quite a bit of Meantime available. Sat outside but did a quick tour inside. Seems modern enough. Close to the market and London Bridge, so a good place to take a short break before continuing on, but not worth a trip by itself.

Good range, but was a little disappointed with the recommendations I was given and the food. Better off walking a few metres down the road and going to The Rake, which is my favourite joint in London.

Modern interior and seemingly focused on the resturant part. Nice location just off the Rake and Borough Market. Staff was ok but didnt know too much about beer.

Update - February 2014. Brew wharf has ceased its brewing activities. What the future will bring is uncertain.

Original review from 2008.
It’s nice to have a new brew pub in London. That’s the good news. However, its very food oriented (I haven’t eaten there), their own beers are (so far) nothing special and it doesn’t have a very pubby atmosphere. Doesn’t really cater to the needs of the casual drinker. We observed that most of the clientele were drinking wine rather than beer, which gives some idea of what the emphasis is. But its just round the corner from the Market Porter, so you have to visit (if only once). Also has Meantime beers on tap and some relatively interesting bottles (including a few from Flying Dog).

Very large and spaced out area just 1 minute from the Rake and the market. Not sure what’s going on here, they have a bar, a brewery, a restaurant, a kitchen. Place is huge. But not well organised not a whole lot of comfortable seating. Beers are 8 Meantime keg lines (4 different beers) and 2 casks of their production their own beers make it worthy of a stop. Un-exciting bottle selection.

Just happened by this on my way to the Rake. Very close by but tucked in a little corner. The lit up words ’brew’ caught my eye. A large place, very spread out. Mainly Meantime stuff on tap with the odd beer of their own offering. They don’t do tasting trays or anything which is a bummer but oh well. Priced ok for the area. Service was friendly and very willing to chat. Nice place
