June 22, 2009 Visited 22nd June 2009. Pleasant local in the Dartmouth Park area of North London between Highgate and Kentish Town. Divided into two main rooms eitherside of the bar. Woodpanelling and bare floorboards; wooden tables and chairs. Subdued lighting and quiet recorded or streamed music. TV screen was showing Wimbledon tennis during my visit; note the pub can become very busy indeed durng major football fixtures which are also regularly screened. Although eight taps in bar only THREE are real ales, but an adventurous ale policy is pursued for two of them. Adnams bitter is on permanently whilst the remaining two real ales change regularly and feature micro breweries and small regionals. The real ales are priced between £3 and £3.25. The real ales are usually very well kept. Food served most sessions: Starters £4-£5; Main Courses £9-£15; Sandwiches £4-£5, Desserts £4. The pub hosts regular quiz nights and select theme events, e.g. Spanish night with paella - reservations required. Film nights and book nights also hosted at this venue - check the website or contact the pub for more details. |
