| jackl (30), London, England | | May 18, 2012 A JDW pub located in a convenient patch along High Holborn. The pub’s massive even before you account for the downstairs bar. There’s usually 8 casks of various quality on, plus the usual suspects on keg. Prices are good, certainly better value than the increasingly dear Sam Smiths pubs of central London. The ambiance is strange: there’s lots of heavy wood, low lights, and books-by-the-metre stacked on the shelves. Overall, considering the good prices, there’s worse places to end up for a quick pint. | | BeerViking (30), Brentford, England | | March 29, 2012 Excellent value for the area and generally well-kept ales. The usual good value JDW food. A surprisingly characterful pub for its size and location, with several distinctively different areas inside, including a cellar bar. | | Leighton (226), London, England | | March 20, 2012 [ Updated May 18, 2012 ] A JDW, styled somewhere between American truck stop and old, wood-paneled library. An interesting place. There is a quite expansive ’cellar bar’ as well, so make sure you don’t miss that. About 12 casks on offer plus the typical Spoons kegs and bottles. And the typical food. Prices are on the upper range for Spoonies (2.70 quid per pint of cask beer). Nice enough ambiance. Worth a quick visit. |
