| Nate (246), Indiana, Pennsylvania | | May 1, 2012 Weeknight dinner. Really nice bottle and tap selection here, and the food was very good. Overall, the service here is great. Definitely a great place to have dinner and some rounds of great beer. Bottles are pretty steep in price, but quite a choice of styles. | | nbutler11 (226), Phoenix, Arizona | | March 28, 2012 Their tap set up is a sight to behold. Love what they’ve done with the space. Glad to hear they’re expanding, because the space isn’t large enough to contain the goodness. | | davidflores99 (12), Long Beach, California | | January 4, 2012 one of my favorite places right now, the beer selection is great and their own brews are also very good! i love their bbq chicken nachos! | | daknole (204), Scottsdale, Arizona | | November 3, 2011 It gets no better than this. Every single thing about this place kicks ass. Bravo to the whole crew. A special thanks to Dave and Julian. | yackery (7), California does not count - explanation | | November 1, 2011 [ Updated March 13, 2012 ] Nice new brewery / beer bar on the Promenade. Well-lit and open and with TV’s in view from most seats.
Service is impeccable whether at the bar - expertly staffed to match the volume of customers or on the floor with young, pretty, but snappily professional waitresses. These folks are happy to serve.
Selection is awesome though there’s local competition. Lots of foreign and domestic taps and at least six house beers.
Food is heavy on pork and not for the diet-conscious but chosen and prepared excellently by a caring chef. I like that they are always experimenting and now offer a wild game menu. Of course it’s more expensive than grabbing a beer and a hot dog at the mom and pop shop.
This place is doing it right, establishing a world-class reputation, and they’re "good people". | | ajm (191), Los Angeles, California | | October 19, 2011 Lots of things going for this place. It’s open later than the original. It’s closer to LA. You can TRAIN there from LA. The beer they brew is BOMB.COM thanks to Julian. Their guest taps are just as rad as the original. I have always liked their food. And if you care to get your ear talked off about beer, ask for Larry. | | toxichop (18), South Gate, California | | October 14, 2011 [ Updated November 15, 2011 ] Came here on there Bear Republic night and they where a bit busy. I wanted to go to the bar area but that was packed so I got a table. Was there a bit before I was served, I got beer which was served in a pint. Later on my food arrived and I did my thing. What I really liked about this place is the food, very delicious (even tho what I had was overcooked) and the portions are good. Also, solid brews lots of good stuff on tap. My complaits are that they lack on having some stuff. Like where I was seating there where no tv’s so I couldnt see the game, no bottle menu or maybe they forgot to give it to me (they just gave me the menu of the brews they make) and the servers just drop of the food and ask me if Im ok. The servers at other gastro and brewbups just do a better job making sure Im ok then this place does. Overall I kinda want to come back here, but just for there food. | | abcfan (10), New Jersey | | September 15, 2011 Very good food and beer selection. House brews were very palatable and the Smoked Hot Wings and Nut and Olive sampler were extraordinary (especially the nuts)! I liked it so much that I went to Seal Beach the next day just to compare. | | BMan1113VR (279), Los Angeles, California | | July 11, 2011 Just like the Seal Beach Bar, this place is fantastic! From the moment you walk in you are assaulted by the fantastic BBQ aroma of the first Beachwood, but then hit with the marvelous malt smell of a working brewery. Same vibe as Beachwood 1.0, but MUCH larger. Friendly vibe, well lit and with very knowledgeable people working throughout business. Gabe and Julian are already doing a fantastic job. The food is exactly the same as the first place (which is a very good thing). The guest beer selection of 24 taps is stellar (some real jewels). The house beers are slowly trickling forth and are all very solid so far (and I expect them to improve as Julian starts releasing the beers that he is known for). Parking is street or lot parking that I have found, so bring some coins or cash. Value is fair for the food and quite good for the beer. This place is pretty close to perfection as a bar, and I am super excited about this brewery’s potential. A very necessary stop in SoCal! | | JohnC (137), Mission Viejo, California | | July 5, 2011 great food, 28 guest beers on tap, 5 house beers on tap, great service, nice ambiance, this is a must visit place for the beer aficionado. |
