tjnixon (1), California does not count - explanation | | September 28, 2011 Does not get any better than Cal Heights Market. Best customer service. | mlynn (1), California does not count - explanation | | August 1, 2011 If you’re lucky enough to have Raza himself there when you go, you’ll be treated like a king. He’s very helpful, friendly, and knowledgeable. He also knows wine better than any store clerk (owner) I’ve ever met. And there a full cigar humidor within the store. The place is clean, there’s parking, and the value is good. I’m lucky to have such a place in my neighborhood, but even if it wasn’t close by, I’d travel to get there. Best "liquor" store I’ve ever been to. No booze - beer and wine only. | DutchBeerGeek (1), Lakewood, California does not count - explanation | | July 27, 2011 Ghetto little liquor store, with that *cough* charming *cough* liquor store incense stench. Bottles of Belgium ales right next to tall cans of Steele Reserve. Decent selection, including some exotics, but not a terribly large amount, just unique choices. One of the beers I bought had gone bad, sediment all caked up on the bottom and no carbonation (for this type of beer, it was very bad). High prices. La Trappe quadrupel 350ml was 16.99 and the single 12oz bottle of Hel & Verdomoenis was 9.99.
I was impressed to find this in the middle of now where, but that faded after the novelty wore off. I’d much rather hit my local bevmo. | drinkgoodbeer (1), does not count - explanation | | July 26, 2011 Great beer selection, beer you have had, beer you want, and beer you have not yet tried and will love! Stop by and see what they have to offer! | | toxichop (18), South Gate, California | | June 24, 2011 A little run down ghetto liquour store in the corner. Not an attractive place but it is packed with beer. Some refrigerated some not. They had plenty of nice brews, lots from the bruery, rogue, even stuff from beer here and De Molen. Now, some ppl love the service but I did not. I dont know who the guy was but he was a bit of an ass. He almost didnt sell me beer cause I dont look 21. Like I got fucking I.D. plus I dont think an underage person will be looking for Alpine. I dont know if I did anything to him, I did ask for this one brew and his like thats all we have from them. No suggestions or anything like in other places. I did read a couple of othere reviews where ppl do say the guy could be an ass and othere ppl love him. Either way, Im not sure If I will be back. I got othere spots where the workers are always cool. | | albertq17 (12), California | | June 3, 2011 [ Updated February 6, 2012 ] Excellent selection and well stocked. Prices are good but the best thing is the service. Raza is amazing!! I was looking for Stone IRS, he said he didn’t have it yet so he called the distributor and asked for me and was told that he would have it the next day. The next day when I got there and walked in he said "Hello Albert T
they are right over here" I definitely found my go to place for beer. Keep it up Raza we need more of you! | | CantillonKing (11), , California | | March 18, 2011 Raz knows his stuff | oxysoi (2), California does not count - explanation | | February 28, 2011 Good selection at good prices plus very good service. The workers know their beer and I often look to them to see what they recommend next. | | fourplayed (11), Lakewood, California | | October 18, 2010 [ Updated October 27, 2010 ] They do a good job rotating new domestic and foreign brews in this little neighborhood corner liquor/market. A very good selection all in refrigerated section. They know their beers and it’s worth the time to ask what’s new and what’s coming soon. Enough going on here to keep you coming back on a regular basis. Price’s are on par from what I’ve seen at the Wine country (signal hill) and a few other places. Parking on orange is limited. More parking off Bixby right behind the store. |
