48 AMBIANCE 2/5 SERVICE 5/10 SELECTION 8/15 FOOD N/A VALUE 7/10 OVERALL 9/20
Overview: Liquor Barn Express is one of three (I think, internet not cooperating) similar branches in Louisville- the concept is essentially a smaller, storefront type place with a somewhat pared back selection. The store itself is pretty sparsely decorated, and pretty much follows the long aisles of booze model of other LBs. The beer is located near the back and left side of the store- the back wall is a (mostly) macro cooler, and the left aisle features a craft beer cooler near the back corner, and warm beer on shelves including imports.
Service was attentive, but I did get a fellow who seem to think "Fat Tire" was a brewery, which is a pet peeve of mine (in the same way that a person calling SNPA "Sierra Nevada" gives me the red ass, as if they donít brew many other beers). Anyway, selection is mainly American craft beer with a smattering of English and German imports. Itís pretty much what you can get at virtually any other craft beer spot in town. LB Express locations do not have a growler station. Like other LB locations, prices are competitive with most other outlets.
PROS: Convenience location for neighboring area; in a shopping center, so parking is easy. CONS: Pretty plain place; uninformed service; mediocre selection. Overall: Just a neighborhood craft beer convenience stop, nothing more. Not worth a visit, unless you are a place ticker or live in the area.

64 AMBIANCE 2/5 SERVICE 8/10 SELECTION 10/15 FOOD N/A VALUE 6/10 OVERALL 12/20
Best selection in the Buechel/Newburg area. Itís not nearly as stocked as a regular Liquor Barn, but itís way better than any Kroger, gas station or Quick-E booze stand in the area. The service is friendly and helpful. Ambiance is weird - just go. Has some good deals, but overall prices are a little steeper than specialty beer stores. I go when I want a good beer but not a long drive. Place needs way more Belgian ales of all sorts.
