18 reviews for Liquor Barn, Hurstbourne Pkwy
| padgemw (11), , | | July 26, 2009 I first visited Liquor Outlet (old name) in college and thought it was pretty cool. Years later, I been to hundreds of stores. And this liquor store continues to rank up with most. The prices were always great (though I understand KY raised the taxes on booze in April or May of 2009). The beer selection is a whole aisle and while you may not be able to find the very top of the line imports, the overall selection of domestic micros is impressive. | | AguynamedTodd (17), Indiana | | April 18, 2009 They have bottled beer and beer on tap to fill growlers. The tap beer area was not cleaned. The floor was sticky and fruit flies were everywhere. You’ll see better variety if you look in Indiana, which is 10 minutes away. | | Ryan82SM (26), Louisville, Kentucky | | March 29, 2009 Small store, less selection than the Fern Valley store. Pretty dimly lit and a bit shady. Did find a few good single bottle here, including Old Rasputin and Rare Vos. If they have food, I didn’t see it. Service was pretty much typical; if you have a question, you have to hunt someone down. As long as you aren’t in the upper echelon of beer drinkers, your needs can probably be met here. | | Tmoney99 (254), Cincinnati, Ohio | | August 14, 2008 Easy to find location with large parking lot in the front. Service was freindly. Selection is held on shelves and walk-in cooler with bombers and six packs. I found new beers including two BBC brews made for Liqour Barn. Beer store food and large selection of package liqour and wine. Great place for good brews in the tri-state. | | mmmbeer (23), Austin, Texas | | July 26, 2008 (Visited 7-14-08) The last stop on my beer tour for the summer- and it was worth the wait. It’s set in a strip mall, but don’t let that fool you, the place is huge! Had an isle devoted to bourbon which I just had to grab a bottle or two. As I went to the beer isle, I noticed endcaps with 750’s and bombers on unique stuff (Stone vert, homewrecker)- had to grab those. My amazement was that I kept saying aloud,Haven’t tried that, heard that was nice, haven’t tried that... 2 isles and a walk in cooler later, I had a full cart of beer. My only complaint- couldn’t make 6’ers of my own choosing- DANG!!! While the staff are ok, I was there for the beer, and had the task of explaining to the wife why my cart was full. Perhaps I should see my mother in law more often who lives nearby... | | esjaygee (103), Oak Creek, Wisconsin | | May 23, 2008 Huge liquor store with two aisles devoted to beer and a huge walk in cooler. Decent selection of beers both local, regional and most major American brands. Decent foreign selection too. They had a build your own six pack in the back so I made myself a six pack of so-so beers. After walking around and seeing a few six packs with beers plucked out I asked if I could build my own. They said yes and I went ahead and joyfully made up six packs of Stone, Arcadian and anything local that sounded interesting. Five six packs and three bombers later I left the store happy. | | 502Flavors (37), Louisville, Kentucky | | April 16, 2008 Way out of my way, but worth a trip every now and then for the selection. Huge walk in refrigerator section as well as a huge isle of warm beer (I feel like the isle has more to offer). This place is a must check out in my book, my only beer (as I mentioned with the other party stores I have rated in Louisville) is with the lack of singles and bombers. There are some nice high end singles/750’s like special releases (and they do have worldwide stout and 120 minute, when in stock, in singles). But, if you are looking for a good six pack, hit it up. And, as far as food, service, and ambiance... its a party store so I’m sure you can figure that out for yourself. | | donrajin (47), Roanoke Rapids, North Carolina | | July 31, 2007 This is one of the best beer stores I’ve been to on the east coast. I have been looking high and low for Flying Dog’s Wild Dog Gonzo and they had it. Damn I should have got more than one bottle. Only 5,000 made. Anyway they had a pretty good selection of beer to choose from and a first for me, a fill your own growler station with about 7 beers on tap to choose from. | | illinismitty (224), Nashville, Tennessee | | June 12, 2007 Chain liquor store vibe, but similar beer aisle layout to the Lexington store. Lots of domestics and regional beers, including Bells, Stone, Barrel House, Schlafly, Atwater, New Holland, BBC, Dogfish Head, etc. Belgian and European selection was a little disappointing, but not terrible. Lots of good wines, liquor, and party supplies too. However, I thought the Lexington store had a few more goodies. For example, a bigger selection of Bells (hopslam, consecrator, etc.). | | Brigadier (79), Chagrin Falls, Ohio | | December 23, 2006
I swung by here to pick up Stone, Brooklyn and some other things not available in Wisconsin. I only spent around $30 but could have done much more damage easily. Selection was decent, ranging from locals (Kentucky Ale and BBC) to further reaching brands like Stone, Brooklyn and Bells. Prices were very reasonable and the fact there is no tax helps even more.
This is definitely one of the must stop locations in town. Getting to it should be pretty easy as it is right off of I-64. |
