| weihenweizen (63), Charleston Area, West Virginia | | February 7, 2012 This place has one long aisle of refrigerated brews and a good size end cap of unrefrigerated singles. The selection was not that much, but they had some good stuff. My wife and I like the food, so we will likely be back. Prices in Kentucky are higher than I am used to. | | AguynamedTodd (75), Illinois | | August 23, 2011 You can find beers here that may be out at the bigger liquor stores. Selection is good but is growing/getting better. Prices are at least a $1 higher than other places. Would go back to this place if I was having problems finding certain beers. | | shrubber85 (132), Greenville, Indiana | | August 13, 2011 Impressive beer selection and nice growler choices - a lot of unique beers. Was impressed with the number of special, limited edition beers. Prices were not bad for the most part. | HighlandsRes (6), Kentucky does not count - explanation | | July 10, 2011 I like, ilike, i like i likei likei like i like i like I like, ilike, i like i likei likei like i like i like I like, ilike, i like i likei likei like i like i like I like, ilike, i like i likei likei like i like i like I like, ilike, i like i likei likei like i like i like I like, ilike, i like i likei likei like i like i like | | JonHoward (10), Louisville, Kentucky | | June 15, 2010 Pretty decent beer selection .. the kicker for me was when they started doing growlers, then they went up a few notches... | derbs (2), Kentucky does not count - explanation | | January 20, 2010 Great selection, plenty of good food if you choose to dine there. It’s never occured to me before, but after reading these comments, it sounds like a good idea for lunch -- as long as I don’t have to go back to work.
Thsis where I originally discovered Hopslam a few years back. For that alone, they get my vote.
And their price -- for the record -- is $17.49 a six-pack. Certainly reasonable. | | Ryan82SM (65), Louisville, Kentucky | | February 21, 2009 It’s a Whole Foods, which is a nice place to visit, let alone shop. Friendly staff, people. Service is typical for a grocery store, but did have some good conversations with the guy stocking beer; he was more knowledgeable than most I have met in Louisville. Selection is second to none for a chain grocery store. Great selection of American craft beers with some imports mixed in, as well as singles of Belgian, English and American brews. You can also drink at the store, so you can have a great lunch or dinner with your beer, since the food selection is excellent, especially the fresh food bar, conveniently located directly behind the beer. As for value... well, as my friend Allie said, they don’t call it "Whole Paycheck" for nothing. The singles are a better value, especially when they have Belgians on sale. A good experience if you have some extra dough. | | 502Flavors (47), ARLINGTON, Virginia | | March 3, 2008 [ Updated June 28, 2008 ] Abiance = 3 because it is a grocery store service is 5 (the middlest number) because I just walked in, picked up some good beer then left Selection (13) explains itself. The only thing keeping this from being 15 is that there is not an unbelievably large beer section of the store it is a large and very satisfactory section, but it isn’t as big as a Party Mart for example. However, they carry a wide range of beers, many of which I have found very hard to find in the past. Plus, they will order beers you want! Food = 10 because, as I said, it is a grocery store (and a kick ass organic one too!). And, Overall is 19 because I think anyone who likes finding well rated, quality beers that they won’t likely find anywhere else should visit Whole Foods. The prices weren’t that bad either.
RERATE: I’m updating this because Whole Foods updated their beer selection and now has an impressive singles section that includes many highly respectable beers and various bottle sizes. | | SpudClampDawg (43), Jasper, Indiana | | April 16, 2007 Fantastic store with an extensive selection. One side is a cooler full of sixers and the other is a large shelf of singles. Rochefort, DFH newest offerings, Anderson Valley, Great Lakes are just a few available. They also have great educational signage above the beer, telling shoppers about styles and what to try if they like certain more popular beers. | shalloWMeans (9), Independence, Kentucky does not count - explanation | | March 5, 2007 I really love this place. I must say that it is exactly like Wild Oats in Cincinnati, not sure if theyre owned by the same company perhaps... Anyway, being a lover of organic and natural foods, this place is wonderful to me, and....... they have a nice beer selection too! How much better can you get? |
