Hit the last day of the 5th Belgian Festival. The location of this stellar bar is suprisingly remote. Belgian beer banners and tin signs annul any doubts that you have found the right place. Immediately were greeted and given a table and menu - including Festival specials. Extensive draft list with many offerings unavailable anywhere else. Bottle list includes rarities and aged specialties. All beers were served in correct glassware. We only got appetizers, but they were excellent - Frittes and wonton-wrapped brie. Prices were a little high, but considering the relative rarity of the beer, quite in-line with expectations. I wish there was a nearby hotel to allow for full enjoyment of the selection.

Incredible selection of Belgians on tap. Good service. Nice place. Good food. The owner shared a Red Poppy with me and the missus and the next night walked around giving everybody a taste of Temptation. Incredible. Great bottle prices too. Too bad it’s so far away from civilization. We are considering buying the beat up old house across the street that’s for sale just so we have a place to stay when we visit this place. One of my favorite beer bars in the world, and I’ve been to a quite a few in the US and Belgium.

One of the first stops on our road trip down the east coast and it did not disappoint in the least. The Draught list had about 85% stuff I had never had and included 4-5 Cantillons and a couple of other sours. Very well structured and well put together, totally worth the trip to Lovell. The food was also very tasty. Not much else to be said, but the service was definitely top notch as well and the locals were interesting. Awesome.

Fantastic place. Food was great, beer list is absurd, service is great, tour in the cellar and free samples of amazing beer. Haven’t been to a lot of really good pubs, but I can’t imagine it can get much better than this.

This should be a destination for any beer geek within a days drive. The draught menu is comprehensive and other worldly. The bottle selection is even more so. Just ask and chances are they have it. Upon arrival we ordered burgers, which despite they’re lackluster status as a high society dish, were amazing. Perhaps the bust burger I’ve ever had, in fact. Upon seeing us plunging our noses into snifters, Jim approached us and we started to carry on about beer, their cellar, and huge menu. Half way through our burgers, Jim brought out complementary glasses of Pannepot- amazing! After a couple delicious brews, we explained our desire to meet a friend later, but were reluctant to do so due to driving home too late. Jim got a backpack filled with camping gear and showed us behind the pub. I would have never expected such accommodation, but there you have it. The best pub I’ve been to hands down.

This is the best pub I have ever been to in my life. The beer selection is nothing less than epic. The service is exceptionally friendly and knowledgeable (or if they don’t know they will find it out for you!). The food is superb. The generosity, hospitality, and love of fine beers radiate from this location, it’s proprietors and employees, bathing visitors in it’s glow.

This place has grown into quite a phenomenon in the beer rating community and I must say it is mightily deserved. Chris displays that kind of passion that has put places like Kulminator on the map. Its inconceivable location perhaps only add to the reputation as people need nothing less than a pilgrimage to reach Lovell. Once there, only a blatant ignorant could deny the unbelievable draught beer list. Out of the 30 or so beers on tap, I felt like drinking at least 15. They carry the exceptional. And if Chris catches a glimpse of you smelling your glass, be ready because he’ll tell you you’re the reason he built this place up. Passionate beer lovers are his fuel and once he brings you downstairs and starts opening up numerous rarities to thank you for coming, you’ll think that maybe this is how life should be. Going back to your normal life will not be the pleasant perspective it can sometimes be after long trips...

A local place in the middle of no where Maine that has been on the radar for a while. Needless to say it was worth the trip. Its got a homey feel to it, with locals on snowmobiles coming in for a pint before heading home. The service was incredible (Hanah and Frank were unbelievable attentive) and the selection on tap and in bottles was beyond expectations (especially with what we got to sample from the cellar towards the end of the evening). The food was quick, delicious and perfectly portioned. Some of the beer was a little pricey but considering what we were drinking that it to be expected (don’t know too many places where you can get 2006 Cantillon on tap). These people know their beer and the passion shows in everything they do. Will be back whenever we can justify the trip.

20080729 Friendly, open porch area, screened in, on a golf course. Pretty standard pub menu. Frites were so-so tasting but mostly a bucket of half inch french fry scraps. Mayo was good. The beers were 50-50 in shape. Lambics on tap were not in good shape, mostly watery. Uncomfortable plastic patio chairs didn’t suit the many hours we were there. Told by the servers that bottles were not for sale. lots of misunderstanding. But eventually we got things straightened out thanks to Jen and later Chris. And then the benevolence began and the sun shined through the Maine darkness. Honestly, I would have panned this place except for their selection had it not been for the great hospitality of Chris and Jen.

We were at Ebenezers on the night of a crazy New England ice storm, so we were one of the only guests there. I suppose we were the only ones lucky enough / stupid enough (chose one) to travel out that night for a beer. After settling in out of the storm, our extremely friendly waitress chatted it up with us for a while and saw that we were really into the beer. After dinner she brought back Chris to say hello. After some more great beer suggestions up in the pub and a great beer conversation, Chris invited us over to his house to check out his cellar... yes ... we know just how lucky we are! Anyhow, I think that there is a lot more to their deservedly great reviews. It is not just the great beer selections (of which there were just soooo many), but there are plenty of places out there with great beer. It is the whole package. We had great service at the pub with a staff that really knew their beers. The food was creative and delicious (steak tips - yummy) and the pub was int
