Visited on a wednesday afternoon. Very nice bar near the river. Well decorated. Nice ambiance with a bunch of old friendly locals playing cards. Service was friendly and efficient. The owner seems to be a really nice guy and very passionnate. The bottle selection is quite extensive, but like other have said already it become even more extensive when you chat with the owner as he will make you some nice suggestions. Many Struises beers, a bunch of De la Senne too, most of the good gueuzes (3F, Tilquin, Oud Beersel, Cantillon, etc.) and Kriek and a lot of others. Prices are good for the area. That’s the kind of local bar that I really like. Not too touristic with an owner who is a beer enthusiast and a very good selection that include some nice lambics and easily drinkable beers at good prices.

A little less ambiance than Take One, an owner that know a little less about pairing beers than Peet @ Take One, but a wider selection of great beers. Try to get beers that are not on the ’regular’ menu.

Tell Peter what you like and he will serve you a great beer you probably didn’t drink before. There are 600+ different beers, of which many are from smaal to micro breweries.
On warm evenings the small terrace is probably full.
Come early, as the pub closes at 24.00

Despite Take One’s attitude, Servaas’s potential and Thembi’s range, this is Maastricht’s current top beer venue - and in the increasingly competitive Dutch top ten drinking places, without doubt. Delighted to see a boss who is probably older than me. Also clearly relishing his job. It was also heartening to be in the lowest quartile of the age range drinking there. I am guessing that the boss always wanted to run a pub that specialised in beer and enjoys shocking his customers with yet another brewery making top rate beers. Craft intentions one, industrial wisdom nil, 50 times a night. Just off the Maas. The only place I visited that on a busy trip informed by Tim Skelton’s Beer in the Netherlands that was not polluted by groovy music. Snacks could get a wee bit more artisanal. Otherwise brilliant.

Awesome place!!! Living room kind of feeling, full of breweriana, cozy and laid back atmosphere. The couple is so friendly, they are very knowledgeable about the beers they have and are glad to recommend you anything based on what you feel like. Not a very big selection but I prefer the quality over quantity they serve. Highly recommended if you’re in Maastricht!

Went here two times during my visit to Maastricht. Located next to the river and easy to find. Small, cosy bar with the likes of an old fashioned living room. Shelves with beer books and the wall is decorated with empty beer bottles and other beer memorabilia. The beer list itself is pretty standard with a few suprises, but once you talk to the owners, who are mighty friendly btw, there are other beers appearing as well. Very knowlegdeable and they know what you’ll like by determing your taste preferences. We had a great time here and during our next visit we’ll most likely return here!

Cosy bar, love the looks. A good selection. Nothing really special, but some chose for everyone. Good service. One to get back to one day.

A really warm and cozy bar on the banks of the river Maas. The owners are a older couple that were serving the food and beers on both the occasions I visited. The beer was pared with some cheese without asking, which was really nice. The selection is good, and the owner can give you recommendations upon request. Massive selection of Struise beers, and he sad that he sometimes carried Cantillon, Fantome and other rarities. The only problem with the bar is that it has no comprehensive list of what is on offer, and the bottles are stored in the cellar, so the only way to select beers is to ask the staff. Other than that, it is really, really good. I tried some amazing Struise stuff there. By far the best bar in Maastricht.

On the window it said 550 beers. But the beerlist on the table only mentioned about 60. After inquiry at the bar I was informed that the owner just didn’t have the time to update the beerlist all the time. So just go to the bar and ask what they have or even better what style you’re looking for. He mentioned to surprise me twice with a beer I never heard of! One of them being excellent by the way. The atmosphere is something else. Entering the bar you’ll have to suppress your feeling to leave again. White bright light, a completely empty bar looking like just a huge lump of wood, plastic gnomes and mushrooms in the window. The place was pretty full bud sadly enough only beer-tourists and expats.
