| arkurzynski (58), West Bend, Wisconsin | | November 1, 2011 A newer location that often has a few gems hidden around. Walk in cooler section. Overall a decent selection with helpful staff. | | Drake (295), Charlottesville, Virginia | | August 14, 2011 A few high quality foreign beers here, but its mostly about local stuff. Lots of singles available and the prices are decent. Customer service vascillated between grudgingly helpful and downright unpleasant. Parking was fine. | | Pawola22 (18), Chicago, Illinois | | June 24, 2011 Excellent selection of local WI beers. Lots of single bottle options, which I loved. Fair pricing and the guys behind the counter seemed to know their beer. They mentioned that the city was forcing them to leave their current location because the intersection is expanding...that sucks. This was a solid bottle shop. | | jandd1983 (87), Florissant, Missouri | | April 10, 2011 Very good selection of local brews. Was impressed with the variety and the customer service. I also liked the individual bottles so you could pick more single bottles to try the various brews. Would definitely recommend for those who are searching for the Wisconsin brews. | | jrallen34 (207), Chicago, Illinois | | March 31, 2011 Passing through Madison onto Darkness and we had to stop at one of the highest rated beer stores along the way. Its a decent place, worth stopping by if you are close but not a destination place at all. The quality of the beers is average, not a ton of super high quality beers or internationals but most of the better local brands. The selection is heavily biased toward local offerings Central Waters, NG, etc. They have several of each which is great for someone driving though to get locals you can’t get out of state. As an added bonus they offer tons of single’s of most of the local beers, so for the ticker like me its decent. The prices are super cheap as well so that’s welcome as well.
Stop by for cheap locals but don’t go out of your way. | | CheersMate (132), Fremont (Seattle), Washington | | March 30, 2011 Fairly decent place to buy some great brews. Wow, they had a lot of things that I was going to buy, but because I’m traveling, I simply don’t have the suitcase space for it; plus, I don’t want to pay $100 just to fucking lug this shit across the country. Anyways, the staff was so-so. It’s not that they were rude, but they didn’t seem that friendly to non-locals. This place caters to locals, for sure; which I don’t think is a bad thing, but, please, don’t slight the beer lovers. The prices "seem" decent, but I’m not from Madison, or surrounding areas, so I couldn’t say as to whether or not they’re reasonable. Well, despite the trivial complaints, I’d say this place is top-notch. This has a great representation of Midwest beers, and a decent amount of Belgian beers, as well. Fairly surprised to see some Mikkeller beers here that I haven’t seen anywhere else. I’m happy that I was able to visit because this was bordering the limit of where my hotel shuttle services. Give ’er a try if you’re in Madison. Sheboygan. | | homebrewlover (11), | | December 8, 2010 They have a great selection and I love they have good chocolates too! | | sunnyridge (28), | | April 4, 2010 One of the best liquor stores in Madison. Great selection. Was part of my holy trinity of beer stores in Madison. | | Jabswitch (16), Green Bay, Wisconsin | | December 11, 2009 Lots to choose from. Well organized - not overly stocked. Didn’t notice anything particularly positive or negative regarding the ambiance. I have found beers here I have not been able to find elsewhere. | | zizzybalubba (68), Elizabeth City, North Carolina | | August 11, 2009 Stopped in to Steve’s Liquor the morning before GTMW. The service was excellent as both of the people working made sure I was helped and gave me some great suggestions on beers I should try. The overall selection is not as good as Woodman’s but there are some beers to be found here that I did not see at Woodman’s. Prices were a little higher here than I saw at Woodman’s. In a nutshell, this is the place to go to find what you cannot find in Woodman’s. Compared to the other smaller stores I visited in Madison this was the best. |
