22 AMBIANCE 4/5 SERVICE 2/10 SELECTION 2/15 FOOD N/A VALUE N/A OVERALL 3/20 midwestbeerguy (28) Ohio | November 17, 2012| Updated May 11, 2013 The selection was comparable to Kroger’s. Also the lady spent so much time in the back ignoring me that I probably could have walked out without paying. | 54 AMBIANCE 4/5 SERVICE 9/10 SELECTION 6/15 FOOD N/A VALUE 8/10 OVERALL 8/20 b3shine (178) Cincinnati, Ohio | April 3, 2012| Updated May 11, 2013 This place needs to be reviewed again, as it’s score is RIDICULOUS (that’s why I went). I was hoping to find a diamond iin the rough, but all I found was coal. The store is set up nicely, and the owner is a really nice guy, but he said he had to stop carrying all of his Belgium beers (Cantillon and 3 Fonteinen), and that he cut the rest of his selection way back because things just weren’t selling in his location. NOTHING special here. Too bad :( | 64 AMBIANCE 3/5 SERVICE 7/10 SELECTION 7/15 FOOD N/A VALUE 9/10 OVERALL 15/20 AndyReynolds (51) Wilder, Kentucky | March 1, 2011| Updated May 11, 2013 I was told this is the place to go if you are north of Cincy. I was a little shoocked to see that their selection is not that big, but they had a few gems that stood out. Big wine selection though. Staff doesn’t really know the beer, but the night i went only one person was working. | 80 AMBIANCE 4/5 SERVICE 10/10 SELECTION 10/15 FOOD N/A VALUE 8/10 OVERALL 16/20 vinobmo (10) Ohio | February 18, 2011| Updated May 11, 2013 I saw the rating and immediatly made sure I got a chance to stop in on my way through Cincinnati. I was not blown away but I was not disappointed. I would come back next time I travel through the area | 84 AMBIANCE 4/5 SERVICE 10/10 SELECTION 12/15 FOOD N/A VALUE N/A OVERALL 16/20 msante79 (335) Mount Prospect, Illinois | June 4, 2010| Updated June 11, 2010 Nice little store in strip mall. While the selection is small it is loaded with nice brews, including some nice Ithica brews. Was expecting more based on the ratings but I can tell this is the type of place where locals go for rare brews. For a business traveler like myself I was not blown away as I look for a large selection of local brews that I have not had. This place had a very nice glass selection. They had 3 or 4 glasses I wanted. Service was great. Settled for a Struise brew and a new Unibroue tulip for the collection. | 88 AMBIANCE 5/5 SERVICE 8/10 SELECTION 13/15 FOOD N/A VALUE 8/10 OVERALL 18/20 foundmd (26) Cincinnati, Ohio | March 8, 2009| Updated June 11, 2010 Yet another Cincinnati area wine and liquor store that stocks a great selection of beer. This shop is nicely organized, and carries a wide selection of domestic and foreign craft beers. I picked up a pack of Founders Imperial Stout (finally!), Goose Island Pere Jacques, an AleSmith Wee Heavy, and a bomber of Nugget Nectar. They had several Belgian’s that I’d never seen before and brews from Great Divide, Moylans, Stone, and Weyerbacher. About a quarter of the selection was in coolers and many singles were for sale. Also noticed a small selection of books about beer and some decent glassware as well. The shop is located in a newer strip mall so there’s ample parking. If you’re in the area, I’d recommend it. | 84 AMBIANCE 4/5 SERVICE 8/10 SELECTION 13/15 FOOD N/A VALUE N/A OVERALL 17/20 Brigadier (136) Bloomington, Indiana | May 26, 2008| Updated June 11, 2010 Any store that stocks three 3F products alongside ten options from Cantillon is definitely worth a stop. While the quantity here is certainly limited the quality more than compensates. Depending on what you are looking for you could spend anywhere from $50 to $250 easily. The best part is that you are allowed to break any sixers to build your own. | 86 AMBIANCE 4/5 SERVICE 8/10 SELECTION 13/15 FOOD N/A VALUE N/A OVERALL 18/20 tmongoose (54) Louisville, Kentucky | May 19, 2008| Updated June 11, 2010 found this location this morning. its out of the way a bit but what a find. has a good selection. not just alot of beers, but alot of very good ones. talked to matt ball for sometime, expressed what we wanted and well its going to be every bit worth the drive from louisville to find those hard to find beers. | 90 AMBIANCE 4/5 SERVICE 10/10 SELECTION 13/15 FOOD N/A VALUE N/A OVERALL 18/20 JSturm (10) Yellow Springs, Ohio | April 16, 2008| Updated June 11, 2010 This the THE place in the Cincinnati area for serious beer hunters. Much like Belmont Party Supply in Dayton, if it’s in OH this is where you go to get it. The ambience however is 180 degrees from Belmont. No problem here, I love’em both. River’s Bend is located in an ultra clean strip mall just minutes south of I-71 and SR48. | 92 AMBIANCE 5/5 SERVICE 10/10 SELECTION 13/15 FOOD N/A VALUE N/A OVERALL 18/20 AllAboutStout (30) Cincinnati, Ohio | February 4, 2008| Updated June 11, 2010 A little bit of a drive and out of the way for me, but Matt always makes up for it. A very good store where the emphasis is placed on quality and not quantity. If it’s worth carrying, they’ll have it. Very good selection and wonderful atmosphere. The best aspect of the store is having the best people in the biz working there. I have yet to meet a better beer person/friend than Matt at Rivers Bend. Anybody that stops in will agree.
This is my beer purchasing store of choice. My first place of business and I would recommend the same to everyone else. |
