Was here on a Saturday afternoon, wasn’t very busy and we were seated immediately, server treated everyone as though they knew nothing about beer. Food was good and reasonably priced. Beer selection was 4 of their beers are approx 12 to 15 guest bottles not taps

The beers brewed at this place are some of the best local brews. They also brew a wider variety than any others in the area. I you sit at the bar, you will get the best service but you also get alright service at the tables. The food here is great. They specialize in burgers and they have a nice selection of those as well. Great beer, great food, and good service.

1st stop on my way down to Charleston, WV and I arrived early in the lunch cycle. Quaint place in a river front downtown setting. Narrow and long interior with rustic brick walls and extremely high ceilings. The 2 story brewery rests up front right by the street/sidewalk, you actually enter right next to it. The bar area is immediately past the brewing enclosure and they have much more sit down dining in the back. A good sized lunch crowd filtered in and out while I sat at the bar and enjoyed their True Meridian Ale before my soup & salad arrived, and then onto a Weiss Bier before my long lunch stop was over. Their home made root beer kept flowing, must be good but alas I was too occupied w/ the ales to fret over a glass of fresh root beer. Both pints were pleasant, the food was nice although portions are geared toward dieting folk and not weary travelers....good thing I had a big breakfast that morning. Great establishment, and they seem to offer an endless supply of live entertainment at night much like the

This was my kind of place. vintage wine and liquor paintings on the walls, ESPN on small tvs in case you’re interested, a knowledgable waitstaff that was extremely friendly, and decent, unassuming brews. It seemed like all of their beer had it’s own edge or flavor, not just carbon copies of others. Reminded me a lot of Vino’s in Little Rock. Kind of divey, kind of rocking, kind of enjoying it’s own personality. Can’t wait to move here to try more of their beer and food. PS the food was superb for all in my party.

(Visited 10/2007): Marietta Brewing Company is located in downtown Marietta on Front Street right near the Ohio River about 10 minutes from I-77. Street parking was plentiful on a weekday afternoon. The quaint building where MBC is located is really pretty both outside and in. The storefront allows a 2nd story view at the brewing tanks through some windows. Once inside there is a 2-story foyer where the raised brewing equipment is viewable from pretty much the entire establishment. The bar is located along the right side, with seating in the bar area and in a large back room. It is all brick on both sides with large painted Marietta Brewing logos. I picked a bad day to visit because they literally only had one beer available, plus their house roorbeer. Based on the board they normally have a lot more beers (obviously) so I can’t ding their selection too much. Service here was good on a Tuesday afternoon. The bartender was friendly and knew the beer(s). I did not try any food on this visit. Overall I would definitely visit this brewpub the next time I am near Marietta. Giving them the benefit of the doubt on running out of all but one of their beers, I suppose it is good news that there is enough interest in craft beer in a smaller city like Marietta to cause that.

As I entered, I was nearly run over by the bartender pushing a hand truck with 5 cases of Bud and Bud light. That should have been a tip; any brewery that sells more Bud is suspect. I ordered a line up of the beers and got two mediocre beers, a root beer and a Woodchuck Draft cider. That was it, two beers! One beer was almost undrinkable (Scotch ale). The best of the lot was the root beer. But, if I wanted a root beer, I’d order a Barqs. The food was OK but, I wouldn’t cross the street to eat there again.

Stopped in Dec 2005 (our second trip here) on way to Florida. Comfortable old downtown location. I had the IPA and was well pleased.

July 2004 visit. Visited at 11 am opening hour after staying overnite at the historic and beautiful Lafayette Hotel down the street. Only had a small strawberry salad for lunch, but it was nice. Speedy, if somewhat abrupt service. The beer made up for it though, everything was pretty well-done except the amber, and that wasn’t bad. Not amazing, mind you, though the Scotch Ale is perhaps worth a trip for...but this is a lovely, historic town and the brewpub certainly adds value to a daytrip in the area.
