The tour itself is interesting enough, and they’re reasonably frank about their methods. It’s pretty expensive though, and there’s no chance to try unfiltered or unpasteurised beer or any of that good stuff. You don’t get much for your $$$ but the bottling plant is impressive, as is the size of the lagering vessels. The bar at the end of the tour wouldn’t be such a bad place to drink but you are only allowed your quota from the tour and aren’t allowed to pay for any more.

If want to see how a major brewery makes their craft, this is a good tour to check out. The 30m fermentation tanks are pretty impressive. The tour was about 1.5 hours and the guide was very knowledgable. Sometimes the master brewer is available for questions. After the tour, they pour 4 drinks from the selection of Carlton brews. The funniest part of the tour is the introductory film in which two japanese are drinking Fosters and one comments that it tastes like "angels crying on your tongue."

You have to make a reservation for the tour. The tour is $15.00 and there is a $2.00 off voucher in the me!bourne events guide located at the tourist info centers.
