| Bryne (153), , Norway | | May 6, 2012 Just around the corner from Brauerei Wagner. The beergarden was rather crowded so we ended up sitting inside. We all had dinner here. Typical Franconian pub grub, which I like! Impressing beer range: 6 beers on draught and 2 bottled beers. This is for me the main reason why I give Hummel higher rating than Wagner. Räucherla Märzen and Kellerbier were my favourites. Also a decent Maibock Hell. (Hell can sometimes be decent....) (Visited April 29th 2012) | | Bjarte1 (40), , Norway | | May 3, 2012 Visited 27.04.2012. Traditional nice Brauereigaststätt with a beer garden in the backyard. Surprisingly many beers on tap to be located in such a small "Dorf". Their smoke beer was good. Food was ok. | | madthom8 (52), Twickenham, England | | March 23, 2012 [ Updated March 26, 2012 ] Visited March 2012. One of the best brewery taps I visited. Lots of wood and high ceilings, and a bright and cheery atmosphere. The food looked good, but I’d eaten at Goller. Friendly service. There was a plasma TV in one room, but thankfully it was off. I thought the wooden hanger on the table showing the beers available was a good idea, as at some of the taps I went to it was hard to tell what was on. There were 6 draught beers on. I had 4 of them and all were solid with the Raucherator being my favourite. Would like to go back, spend more time and have a meal. Great place. | | TreinJan (169), Leiden, Netherlands | | December 8, 2011 Traditional Brauereigaststätte, not too dark interior. Really a locals place, but visitors are welcome. Friendly service, good value food. Very big beer selection, esp. for the area, normally 8-10 beers at the same time, half on tap. All in 0,25 and 0,5 litre available. Good beers. Outside seating at the back. | | 3fourths (962), Boulder, Colorado | | December 8, 2011 Typical Bavarian brewhouse interior. Nine or so beers available, 4-5 on tap. Tried the kellerbier, rauch and pils and found them acceptable with the rauch perhaps the best, but certainly didn’t get the dirty character my friend Ernest experienced, so either our tastes are vasty different or we had different kegs/batches. | | Ernest (115), Boulder, Colorado | | November 16, 2011 Surprisingly disappointing. All three beers (pils, weizenbock, dunkler bock) we tried were very dirty (concrete, DMS, rotten fruit, old socks, etc.) and the place itself had a rather odd retirement home feel to it. Service was friendly and polite (smiles even!). Didn’t try any food. The little wooden hanger at each table with the laminated pics of available beers gave the impression of a trendy American brewpub. Despite the high ratings here, in TAR’s and my opinion, you should skip this place in favor of the far superior Höhn in Memmelsdorf and (of course) the world-class Gänstaller Drei Kronen in Strassgiech. | | downender (196), Bristol, England | | July 24, 2011 Visited 14/7/2011. I Managed to catch the direct lunchtime 917 bus from Bamberg and had about 1.5 hours in the pub before it went back. It was a hot day and all the customers (and brewery staff) were sat outside in the courtyard. The three beers sampled were good quality, the pork steak with fried potatoes and kraut tasty and the service efficient and friendly. Prices were cheap. Would definitely visit again - a great experience. | | Dedollewaitor (207), Odense, Denmark | | July 6, 2010 Large and local brewpub. There was a big sort of wedding when I visited on a sunday in July. Very friendly waitor who took me to their warehouse and showed me which bottles they had avalaible. I had a beer from tap and walked out with 5 bottles. They brew quality beers! | | jfb (45), , Germany | | May 16, 2010 Nice little Gaststätte with 5 beers on tap and an additional 6 bottled beers, selection is probably unsurpassed for a Franconian brewpub. The meals are cheap and excellent, service is attentive and friendly. It’s a half hour walk from Drosendorf (last stop on bus 907 from Bamberg) and definitely worth the little detour. | | mullet (224), Melbourne, Australia | | January 4, 2010 Fairly typical Franconian brewpub style with a relatively broad range of excellent beers. Friendly, relaxed vibe and massive servings of good food for pretty cheap. I asked if I could grab a few bottles to take away and they got the brewer who walked me through the entire brewery to go to a cool room tucked way in the back. Not sure why they didn’t have any in the gaststätte but it was nice of him to let me in the back. Merkendorf is a pretty good place for beer! |
